To the loveliest Nickie,

I knew I was right! It was your mom, like I told you. Don't you know I'm always right? Just kidding. To be honest, you know more than I do. I could ask you anything, and you'd probably know the answer. How long do fruit flies live? How long can a person hold their breath? How long is a dog's pregnancy?

Like you said, we've changed so much since then. I don't think I'm less courageous, though. I've just become more sensible. I know when to shut up now. I'd say it's a pretty useful skill. I'd recommend working on it.

You said you were jealous of me? Really? Me? That's quite something. I'm flattered. Don't think of yourself so lowly, though.

I might have a job and a home, but you have home too. And a husband! I'm on good terms with my mom, don't get me wrong. I just wish I had someone who'd love me in that way, you know? You also have a large friend group. Again, a thing I don't have.

However, I don't feel bad about not having many friends. I love my job, and don't mind spending time with myself. I'm content with my life, which is all I could wish for. It's all anyone could wish for, right?

On another note, I'm glad to hear you liked the music I gave you. I'm amazed at how fast you can memorize sheet music. Good to hear your maids liked it too. You won't be the only one to enjoy it then. Do they play an instrument?

My mom is not a fan of music at all, like you said. She couldn't like it less than she does. I have no idea where my interest comes from. Maybe from my dad? Who knows? All I know is that I like music, and that's all that matters. I'm happy to share that interest with you.

I don't know how to play an instrument myself, sadly. I never decided to pick one up. Like you said, I just imagine how it sounds. I can read and imagine the sheet music; I just don't know how to produce the sounds.

The inn does have a piano in a room close to the dining room. I've thought about trying to play it sometimes. Unfortunately, there's always someone playing it. Plus, I don't think it's appropriate to play in the middle of the night. Definitely because I've never played before. I like my job and would prefer to keep it.

About the recipes you send me: I love at least one of them! I've only made the pasta dish so far. I let Sheppard, the owner of the inn, have a taste. He was such a fan of it, he put it on the dinner menu. Next time you visit the inn, be sure to order it.

I haven't tried out the rest yet. Maybe they'll end up on the menu as well. I'll make the soup next; I'm interested in seeing what cheese can do for a chicken soup. I have never even heard of that.

I can imagine you were confused when you received my last letter before the packet. I'm glad you liked it, though. I guess letters get delivered faster than packages. Luckily, you did receive it. Fun fact: I made the bread myself! I bought the candy, though. I've never tried to make candy. If your new chef has a recipe, be sure to ask for it for me.

About that cake your new chef is making, tell me what you think of it. I altered a known recipe, so the cake would be moister and would be chocolate flavour. That's probably why he was confused by the number of eggs. I personally liked the cake. It wasn't good enough to be put on the menu, though...

I'm currently still getting used to my new home. It's fantastic, though. I have an entire room for myself, and I don't have to share my bathroom with my mom anymore.

It's amazing how much time I have left now I don't have to commute to work. I can sleep longer in the morning, and I have more time for myself in the evening! I think I'll be borrowing more books from the inn's library now I actually have time to read them.

This might have been one of the best decisions I ever made.

I'll make sure to visit my mom as much as I can, don't worry!

Much love,

Livy
