To Lily,
Guess what? Now you get two letters in a row! I couldn't wait to write you, so here you go. Unless, of course, I haven't received your response yet. In that case, I won't soon, because I've arrived at the Laurier mansion, so make sure you send any future letters to that address.
Have you recovered from the evening yet? Have you gotten a good night of sleep? Is your mind not a complete chaos anymore?
And more importantly, are you avoiding the creepy guy? Please stay safe.
Like I said before, we finally arrived at the Laurier mansion. We left our home yesterday, and I'm currently writing you from our room at the Laurier mansion. Which you probably already guessed from the luxurious paper this text is written on.
I think it's a waste of money to buy fancy paper instead of getting some new curtains, though. 'What about the curtains?' I hear you ask. Let me tell you about the curtains in our room.
They're hideous.
That's basically all you need to know about them, trust me. I'm doing you a favor by not describing them.
The mansion is bigger than I remembered. I don't know if my memory is at fault, though. They might have expanded their house. Maybe they didn't know what to do with all their money, and systematically avoided the guest bedroom.
For as far as I can remember, though, the mansion is more beautiful in summer. You have a rough idea of what the mansion looks like, right? Imagine it being covered in growing vines with red and pink flowers. Trees tall and carrying various types of fruit. All sorts of animals fly and run around. It's a paradise on earth.
Compare that with the mansion in winter. Plants are dead, and everything is hidden under a thick layer of ice fallen from the sky. Plus, it's cold.
I arrived this morning. We were welcomed by the man of the house and his oldest son, Thomas. I haven't seen Benjamin yet.
He does have two sons, right? Maybe he doesn't, and my memory is at fault. Again.
When we had tea with the two men, we were told the man of the house's brother would be attending the big dinner next week as well. His wife and son might join as well.
Anyway, that's it for now. Again. Stay safe, wear layers, and talk to you soon!
Nickie
