'I just don't understand how you could let this happen,' I tell my brother.

'Let this happen? How did I let it happen? I didn't have any control.'

'That's the problem.'

'What's that supposed to mean?'

'You have no control over the actions of your friends. How can you even call them your friends? Do you still?'

'Of course I do, I've known them my entire life.'

'They shot your wife! How can you call these people your friends?'

'It was an accident.'

'An accident? Those don't happen if you go hunting prepared. Did you prepare?'

'Of course we did.'

'Well apparently not enough. Now you're left alone with two sons who don't have a mother anymore.'

'You don't think I know that? You don't think I feel bad?'

'Why would you feel bad about an accident, huh?'

'If you feel so responsible for her, why didn't you marry her?'

'I would have, if you didn't steal her from me.'
