The sound of a baby wailing woke Kai up from her sleep. Illidan had to help Khadgar with something and Kai couldn't leave Azariah alone. She mumbled a string of curses under her breath and got out of bed. Her feet touched the hardwood floors as she made her way to the next room. Azariah was grabbing onto her crib and using that as a way to stand. Illidan hadn't missed her first steps, thank Elune, but Az was getting creative with how she stood.

"Azariah, what's the matter sweetheart?" Kai asked checking her diaper, she had just fed her a few hours ago and she was working on getting her on a normal feed schedule. She picked up her daughter when she felt something shift on her back.

Kai pulled off her small shirt and gasped at the sight of two thorns pressing out of her back, she recognized them as the talons of Illidan's wings. "Oh, this is new!" Kai said gently touching the wings as Azariah bawled her eyes out.

"Oh hush my love." Kai said said gently humming and trying to get her to calm down. She let her hands hover over the wings and she casted a soothing spell, the pale yellow glow illuminated the room. Az's wails turned into babbles and Kai continued to hum. "Its okay, its okay." Kai said letting the light fade.

As soon as the last light disappeared Az started to wail again. This time she could felt the wings moving under her skin. "Okay we're going to see Aranel, I hope she can help you." Kai said grabbing a change of cloths and a blanket. She bundled Az up and went outside in the cold to the portal and entered back into Fel Hammer. She said hello to a few demon Hunters as she walked quickly to Aranel's room she knocked and the tired looking doctor opened the door.

"Keyleth? What the matter?" Aranel asked looking to her and the baby in her arms.

"She's growing wings." Kai said moving into the room and Aranel gave her a confused look. "A few months ago she sprouted horns and that was painful for her but now she's growing wings and she's ballistic." Kai unwrapped her from the blanket and showed off the tiny wing nubs.

"Oh well that's new." Aranel said gently lifting up the thorn and jumping back as it started to pulse. "I think the wings developed enough to come out of the body, though I don't think they can because they're not strong enough."

"Can you help her?" Kai asked looking at her helpless child.

"Well it's a rare occurrence but sometimes Illidari get their wings stuck when they transform into their demon form." Aranel said grabbing a dagger from the drawer. "Doctor's make a small incision were the wings are and they can pop out on their own."

"Do whatever you can do to help her, just end her suffering." Kai said picking Az up and brunching her gently. She let her hands cast a calming spell and Aranel light cut into her child's flesh. Kai felt herself grow furious but she kept herself calm for the sake of Azariah who was fussing.

"Now she should be able to push them out herself." Aranel said backing away as two purple wings like Illidan's pushed themselves out of her back. Az let out a sob but after her wings were out, she was fine.

"Thank you Aranel, I was so worried." Kai said healing the small cuts as Azariah babbled happily. Her wings were hanging limply behind her but every once in a while they jumped upwards.

"Elune honey your a mess just like your momma." Kai said kissing her head in between her tiny horn nubs. Kai took a deep breath and sighed. "Let's go back home." Kai said with a nod to Aranel as she left the room.

Kai made her way back home and sighed in relief as she smelt the fresh sea air. She brought Az back to her nursery and set her down into her crib. She pulled up a chair and sat down besides Azariah who snuggled up with a bat plushie.
