Kai noticed the way Illidan's writing changed almost immediately. It was more like a woman's she had never met. It was soft and the 'E' curved. She called him out for it but he denied anything had happened. She went into town and saw the familiar white purple owl sitting on its perch.
Kai let out a two toned whistle and the bird dropped a letter into her hands before settling on her shoulder. "Merlin, welcome home sweetie." Kai said scratching his head. "Perch." Kai said pointing a tree branch she could find.
She tucked the letter in her satchel and went to a shop for some food. She only had a few coins and everything else was just an illusion. She was thankful that Illidan taught her that trick. She bought some meats and some wine and headed back home. Merlin saw her approaching and landed on her shoulder with a happy chirp.
Kai moved him over to him other shoulder and headed back home. She set him on his perch and set her bag on her chair. She grabbed the letter opener and tore it open happily. She opened up and realized it was another person's handwriting.
I'm sorry for not being able to send letters to you, it's been quite hectic. As you know I've betrayed our people but I still find time to write to you. To answer your questions I want to do it in person rather than through mail. You know where to meet me. The day after you receive this letter if Merlin does his job I shall be around Lor'lathil. I'll see you soon Keyleth.
Until then Illidan
Kai sighed and rubbed her head, she forgot that Illidan was considered a traitor. Though at least now she should be able to ask him in person. She looked to her already clean room and looked down to the once dirt floor. She had found every rock within the forest and she created a bumpy non dirt floor. It was odd but at least she didn't come into contact with dirt.
Merlin squaked unhappily at Kai and she giggled. "Perch." Kai said tapping her arm and Merlin landed on her happily. He brushed up against her face and she stroked his feathers.
"Is Illidan not giving you enough love." Kai cooed and Merlin chirped like he was responding to her. "Yeah he gets like that the big mean elf he is." Merlin chirped and climbed off her shoulder and started to dig in her bag.
Kai giggled and grabbed out the bag of gardening seeds, she opened the bag and Merlin looked at her expectantly. "Chirp." Kai said and Merlin 'hooted' at her. She handed him the pumpkin seed and he happily ate the food. She grabbed a small dish from her table and filled it with seeds.
"Here you go sweetie, eat up. Thank you for being so precious bird." Kai cooed and Merlin happily chirped at her. Kai placed the things she bought into her cool area where she would keep food. (Side note: in the old days you would put your food in dry dark places so it would last longer, this is what Keyleth is doing.) She only wasted an hour of her time and she so excited for tomorrow.
She laid down on her bed and Merlin perched himself on her bed post. She closed her eyes and hoped that tomorrow would go well for her. For once in her life.

She woke up and started to get ready, she was going to have to walk miles away from her home. Though she was fine with the trip, she wished she had a Sabercat to make the journey faster. Merlin perched himself on her horns and chirped happily from Kai's horns.
"Yeah use my horns like a perch why don't you." Kai grumbled and Merlin chirped as if to say sorry. "It's fine sweets, birds do this all the time."
She walked through the forests and came to the roads. From there she walked a straight line to where she knew Illidan would be. It was a few miles away from Lor'lathil and they had discovered it by accident. It was a hill that overlooked a meadow filled with wildflowers of all colors. It was so beautiful, a place Kai only visited when Illidan was in town.
