Chapter 16: Watch Your Six-

One by one they all landed in the tree's overlooking the demon portal. Kai balanced herself easily in the tree and made sure everyone else stayed blended in with the leafs. There were two doomguards protecting the portal and Illidan descended from the tree's as fast as he got there. His glaives connected with their flesh and his other Illidari dropped down with him. Kai dropped on her own and had her vines catch her.

The Illidari had killed the two Doomguards and four of them were working on destroying the portals. Illidan and the rest of the fighters were fighting the demons coming to protect the portal. Kai was healing the wounds as fast as they got them, and she turned her attention to the fel swirling portal.

"Stand back!" Kai screamed kneeling to the earth and starting to chant. The wind around her caused her hair to rise off of her head and she hit her hands on the earth. Giant roots erupted from the ground and wrapped around the portal, Kai rose from her spot and with the clench of her hand the portal collapsed into blocks. The Illidari were quick to move out of the way of the collapsing portal and Illidan gave a nod to Kai who planted her Warblade into the ground.

"Focus on the demons now!" Illidan called out as Kai saw the swarm of demons approaching them. Kai focused on healing and when she was needed she helped fight off the demons. The hellhounds and conjuring orcs packed a real punch when combined. Kai yelped as a sword embedded itself into her side and she quickly broke her warbade into two and slit the demons throat.

"Keyleth!" Illidan hollered and she turned her attention to him being overwhelmed by demons and anything that they fought. Kai rooted most of the demons and prevented them from attacking the Illidari. She could feel the roots draining them of their stamina and helping her put one foot in front of the other. The Illidari quickly killed the immobile demons and Kai used some bandages to stop her side from bleeding all over the place.

"There are so many demons, there must be another portal somewhere!" Allari screamed slashing a demon with her glaives.

"Shit!" Kai screamed beating a hellhound back with her blade and looking around they were all coming from different places, this was a trap! "It's a trap! There are multiple portals!"

"We can't split up, Lord Illidan what do you want to do?" Saria asked and Illidan looked around to his troops. They had come so far.

"Allari get Kai and everyone get back into the trees, Keyleth I'm trusting that you can keep all of us hidden in the trees?"

"Of course!" Kai said running towards Allari who grabbed into her and every Illidari sat on a tree branch. Kai pressed her hands to the branches and the wind made the leaves sway gently. Every hunter was bleeding and wounded and Kai focused on healing them and keeping her illusion up. She could feel her mana depleting fast and she tried to let it come back to her naturally.

"How many portals do you think are here?" Illidan asked and Kai hummed.

"Three, we destroyed the fourth one. I can tell you that they are in the west, south and east. I destroyed the north portal." Kai said pointing in each general direction and Illidan looked around to his wounded Illidari.

"Can you fight?" Illidan asked looking around, they all nodded confidently. "Then we split up in teams of six, Allari lead a group to the south, Saria to the west and Kai to the east. I will accompany Saria to the west, we meet back with Allari and then we fight the rest of the demons." The Illidari nodded and Kai lead her group of five to the east.

They stuck to the trees and she made she to heal them back to full strength. Once she was above the portal she noticed it was more heavily guarded. "Drop down and deal with the demons, i can take care of the portal." Kai said they all nodded and descended onto the demons. They fought and Kai dropped down onto a unsuspecting Doomguard, she slit his neck open and Kai focused on getting the portal down.
