Complicated Love (a Bars and Melody fan fiction)

Chapter 14

I spent the next week and a half doing school work and planning my dad's welcome home party. I stood in this dress shop filled with beautiful party dresses.

"I still don't see why your party is so formal" Lauren complained.

"Because my dad likes formal parties" I replied. My mam had decided on the guest list and formality of the party. She invited family members, family friends and other army families that we know. My friend Lottie is part of an army family as well and that is how I've gotten to know her so well. My mam has also let me invite my friends as well so that I'm happy.

"I know but still!" Lauren moaned.

"Don't worry we'll probably all end up going up to my room or something" I replied, while looking at the dresses on the racks. I saw this beautiful black lace dress. It was just about knee length and it was a bodycon. It had 3/4 length lace sleeves. It was perfect for Nadine.

"Nadine this dress was just made for you!" I exclaimed. Nadine came rushing over to look at it.

"That dress is beautiful!" she exclaimed.

"Go and try it on then!" I ordered her. I continued searching for a dress.

"I might try this dress on, what do you think?" Imogen asked holding a light blue dress up against her. It was a simple strapless dress that was quite flowy. It also had a bow round the middle.

"Go and try that on it is stunning!" Lauren exclaimed. Lauren and I kept scanning the rails for nice dresses. I finally found this light pink dress. The top half was a sweetheart style and the bottom half flowed outwards down to the knees. It was stunning. I turned to show Lauren to see that she too was holding up a dress. She was holding a purple scoop neck bodycon dress that went down to just past the knees. It also had 3/4 length sleeves.

"That dress is gorgeous!" we both exclaimed at the same time. We laughed then went to the changing rooms.

I quickly took my jeans and jumper off then carefully changed into the dress. I looked in the mirror. The dress looked amazing. I opened up the curtain and stepped out to see Imogen, Nadine and Lauren all there in their dresses. The light blue dress Imogen chose looked beautiful against her pale skin and blonde hair. Nadine just looked amazing in her dress. Black looks great on her despite the fact that her hair is also black. The dress showed off just how skinny she is and made her look stunning. Then Lauren just looked so great in her dress. Like I didn't even know what words to use to describe how great she looked. We all complimented each other than went and got changed back into our clothes. (A/N picture of the dresses on the side)

While we were paying for our dresses Nadine made a point.

"The next time we go dress shopping it will be for prom" she said.

"Yeah but we'll be going somewhere fancier!" Imogen exclaimed. Once we had payed, we walked to McDonalds to get some lunch. We all sat at a table with our food talking.

"Time for a selfie!" Lauren smiled while opening snapchat on her phone. We took some funny and serious photos. Then we started walking back home.

"I'm really worried about what my dad will say about Charlie" I voiced my worries.

"You do have reason to be worried" Lauren agreed.

"Not exactly reassuring Lauren!"

"Well I was brought up not to lie!" Lauren exclaimed. We all laughed.

-------The day of the party-------

On the day of the party I woke up early at 8. I jumped out of bed excited and ran downstairs. I went into the kitchen to see mam making some toast. I got yoghurt and fruits out and put them in the blender. I started blending the smoothie and waited for it to be done. Once it was done, I sat down at the breakfast bar, where mam was sat eating her toast. I slowly sipped my smoothie.
