It was the 2nd anniversary of L'Manburg- the 2nd year since L'Manburg had gained independence. Last year, I don't think anyone got to celebrate the anniversary due to problems and wars. But never the less, Tubbo and I planned to go to the crater together to just spend time together and reminisce on our past home. There was no doubt about how much I missed L'Manburg- it was always a home to me before everything that went wrong.
It was pretty early in the morning, except there was no sun, no sight of a single golden ray in the sky. It was dark and cloudy, as if the weather knew of the sombre occasion. I tied my hair back as I put on my Netherite armour, over the old L'Manburg coat. I remember being given this coat right before the first ever battle, before Eret's betrayal. I wore this blue and regal coat with pride, and I wore it as I fought for my country.
I didn't plan on taking Kingsley or Zyon, so I walked quietly through the Nether till I reached the community portal. I stood there in deathly silence, waiting. Till, eventually, the slightly taller 17 year old boy walked into sight.
He was wearing his old suit. The suit he wore as president of L'Manburg. The suit was still in good condition, a few obvious stitches here and there. The red tie was smartly tucked under the buttoned up black blazer. His hair was longer than L'Manburg days, it still covered his eyes, and it also covered the scar a lot.
"Hello Tubs." I said with a small sigh and he looked up at me. He smiled as he saw the blue coat underneath the armour.
"Nice coat loser." He said with a small chuckle, but there was slight tears in his eyes. I hugged him quickly and then we turned to walk along the prime path. We talked quietly as we walked alongside each other.
Finally in the distance, we saw L'Manburg. I looked down and the flag still lay there, neglected and rotting. I noticed the glass had been smashed and there was no sort of path to walk on anymore, someone had destroyed the glass...I sighed, I watched Tubbo as he walked up the highest hill to look down on the massive crater. I slowly followed him and as soon as I looked down, my whole body was consumed with despair.
Below us were the small streams of water and even waterfalls still running, this time they were blue and not red with blood. Rocks and boulders bigger than some houses, rotten and watered down wood from exploded houses and other buildings. It was all still a mess down there. Above us, the obsidian grid Dream spent a night building was still up there, except vines and such could be seen flowing in the wind. The crater was desolate and it seemed like nature was taking back what belonged to the world.
"God, after 2 years nearly. I don't know, it just doesn't make it any better." Tubbo said as he sub-consciously rubbed the scarred side of his face.
"I know, it's not easy. It never will be. That's okay though, we have each other." I said, it was a cliché but it made Tubbo smile so it didn't matter, "Do you want to sing the L'Manburg anthem?"
Tubbo nodded and cleared his throat. I started with the first line and then Tubbo's cracking voice joined in. I could tell he was close to crying, so I put my hand on his shoulder softly, both of us looking down at what could've been.
"TUBBO! THORA!" I looked up at the loud echo of a voice, and it seems the demise of L'Manburg was walking right for us. A lost looking Ranboo following behind. Tubbo frowned at Wilbur's sudden appreance, but I was more shocked Ranboo was just hanging out with him. It was like Ranboo to like everyone and get along with everyone but I would've thought he would be smart enough to keep his distance.
"Tubbo man, I haven't seen you in ages!" Wilbur said as he ran over to us, careful of not falling over while he ran over hills and dents in the ground. His hair was flying in the wind, and his coat followed along.
