BOOK 1 IN THE PRETTY SHINING PEOPLE SERIES
There were very few things in life that Martina Kivi enjoyed more than good music. She loved her new cat, Jerry (a phonetic adaptation of a mashing of the names of the two people who'd given her the pet, Jeremy and Aaron); her heart was particularly fond of the bodega owners a few blocks away from her apartment and their baby girl; there was also a very good street musician that had taken to the Bethesda terrace lately that made everything a little bit better.
May also loved showers, not too long because of environmental reasons of course, a love which Jake begrudgingly acquired too (hell if she'd share a bed someone who wasn't at least smelling okay). But music had a way of climbing up to the top of her favorite things in a way nothing else had, it permeated every aspect of her life from work to leisure. In the summer of 2021 it was a lifeline as she'd dropped everything to follow the hella mega tour through the east coast concerts just because life had been hellish and her father had decided to gift her too much money as a wedding thing.
But as much of a music lover as she was, it'd take almost a month for one of the best moments in her married life so far to happen. It was July 24th, her husband was currently facing the lines at a concession stand on the city of Arlington so she decided to do something she hadn't done in a while: browsing Instagram. First she spent the forty minutes until the opening act replying to dms, apologizing for the wait and such.

"why are you recording me when there's a perfectly good concert happening, Jake?" "because you are a terrible dancer."
While all other bands were amazing, Martina left her body when Billie Joe Armstrong came up on stage. Not that Jake wasn't aware, but her celebrity crush showed more than ever throughout every moment of Green Day's set and he was a little more than thankful for the fact meet and greets were suspended for the time being.
"I feel absolutely disgusting." she announced as they reentered the hotel room, tired in a most amazing way.
"You can ahve the bathroom first then." Jake replied while flopping face down in the bed.
"Nuh uh, if I do then you'll just fall asleep then I am spending the night on that couch over there."
Grumbling to himself, Jake went to shower. May replied to their group chat called 'Spider-Man: Homeless' then opened the last chat she had to reply to, Zendaya, who'd taken to send her every relevant piece of pop culture news just so she'd be updated every once in a blue moon.
"Can't believe they broke up. THEY ARE BACK TOGETHER? oooh new music by taylor?" Her finger tapped the link.
Yeah, the singer had a past with her husband but that was honestly such a small detail. The woman was also a genius who made consistently good music, and thing's had happened so long ago. So whenever there was new stuff it was needless to say their little group, which had somehow adopted Taika Waititi, was very excited. May was finally going to understand what they yapped about.
"The next on a list of rerecordings being released by one of history's most defining artists is RED. Jake! JAke jake jake!"
Her husband poked his head out of the bathroom door.
"A ten minute version?" at once he understood what May's excitement was about. "With curse words? You're so fuc-"
(have this anxiety fueled piece of something to celebrate 2 years of my very first finished fic, it's 70k views and the fact my green day obsession has returned full force.)
