"so we are gathered here today..." loud yelling caused Tony to stop, neither Jon Favreau or Marisa were needed on set so there were three adults with a lot of young people. "shut up, Jacob. we are gathered here today because we are officially bored."
heavy rain had begun to pour, making their flight be delayed for hours. so Far From Home cast and crew had retreated to an empty pub nearby, hoping to kill some time. Jon had been amazing at keeping everything together but he had somehow fallen asleep in a corner, leaving only May to handle them. no one was dumb enough to think Jake would be of some help.
"Damn right we are." the woman sent Jake a nasty look.
"if you yell one more time, I will get blunt knife and carve out your right eye." she murmured without opening her eyes.
"oh, you have brought out tired number three. good luck." A nearly asleep Tom said.
truth was they were all dead tired, to the point trying to sleep sounded like a chore. a stranger applauding someone who had just finished a drunken rendition of frosty the snowman reminded them of other people.
"we could try karaoke." Zendaya's hair floated, as she and Angourie had taken to hanging upside down in some leather couches.
"sure let's do it." Martina would do anything to make all of them stop complaining.
"yeah!" Jake might have had a few drinks. his messy hair just gave May an overwhelming urge to run her hands though it, instead she pulled at the hair tie around her wrist.
"please stop drinking." drinks and feelings never mixed well.
"on one condition." he might have been faking his drunkenness a little. only because Martina was smiling again after a blue couple of days, and he liked seeing that. "you duet a song of my choice with me."
other than being great actors, most people there had great singing voices. with two broadway actors, a past west end star, some aspiring singers and Zendaya, they soon hogged the karaoke bar while Jake chose a song.
"this one you know." Jake yelled over their friends hooting as familiar chords began to play.

in that moment, with him up on that stage, Martina forgot about everything else. about insecurity, anxiety, ex boyfriends and uncertain future. all she could think about was Jake and how he was smiling at her.
