whether it was a by product of anxiety or just a general like for being on time, may always woke up thirty minutes earlier than necessary just to do things with time. the morning of her birthday had began with a call from her family in London, an off key version of happy birthday and Paddy asking for presents.

she sat in the kitchen of her shared trailer when Zendaya put a small cupcake on the table.

"happy birthday, min." a hug later they walked to set arm in arm. neither of them had expected to form a close friendship, specially given how they were so different.

zendaya this is Martina's face after I let her hang this painting on the wall, it was by far the best thing to come out of our first group hang out. other than an amazing friendship that will surely bring great things in the future. happy birthday to the mom of our group.

"guess who." a pair of hands covered her eyes, though the voice would be recognized no matter what.

"I don't know. who else in this movie wears a full armor?"

Jake had decided that he would confess his feelings for her at the party later on. sure, they had been dancing around each other's feelings from pretty much as soon as they had met.

as a birthday gift, Jon had let her leave a little early just so Aaron and Jeremy could take her out for coffee.

"the best present I could have asked for are you both."

whenever asked about her friends in interviews, she would affectionately refer to them as her boys. they had been through so much as a group that it was impossible to picture a future without them in it.

she hadn't seen their group be called by this name in so long. it was the first group chat they had had together, over five years ago. Martina came to the conclusion they needed to do another video together, preferably singing. sure, she loved her far from home family a lot but these four would always have a special place.

"just come up to the penthouse." Jake had not forgotten about the movie night, insisting she came at a certain moment.

"I'm coming." the call cut off given May had entered the elevator.

in her general experience, surprises were bad things. they came as exams with negative results, people who should not be doing a certain thing or aquariums breaking. but a lot of things had changed these past few months, and for once she cried happy tears when hearing the word surprise.
