Martina had never been more nervous in her life. Each finger fidgeted in a hundred directions she couldn't control, stopping every few seconds to wipe the sweat off of her palms. To any other person walking down the street, it would seem a madwoman had escaped the nearest mental facility.
"Should I?" Her voice sounded small, probably due to the sinking she felt. Like a knot was twisting and twisting and twisting. She thought everything would go wrong at once. Nikki wouldn't be home. Or worse, she would be and would call the cops on her. May she'd laugh and send Martina back to New York with waving hands and a broken heart. Tears had begun to spill over without an invitation. "Oh, damn it."
Nikki Holland had been in the middle of pouring water for her son, who had just arrived at home, when loud knocking startled her. Tom soon got up to help his mum with the broken glass and spilled water.
"I'll see who's at the door." The older woman became surprised to say the least, due to her finding of a young adult, feverishly reading a crumpled piece of paper.
"Hi, my name is Martina and I am, no, I think I am your sister."
"I'm sorry, what?"
May, as her friends tended to call her, froze. All the shaking ceased as the Predator (Aaron's words) took over. Scarily calm, coldly professional. Tom approached them, immediately seeing a number of similarities between the women standing there. Had he been more awake, he'd have realized they were related.
"Oh, my apologies." The little Finnish accent jumped out in situations like these. "Hi, good morning. I am Martina Kivi and I am fairly certain you are my sister. May I come in?"
