The lush green trees were the first sign that they had landed on Endor. Padmé marvelled at the unfamiliar planet, the greenery reminding her of her home on Naboo. A bittersweet feeling swept over her. She forgot that there was so much green in the galaxy.

"So, where's this base exactly?" She asked as Nova fiddled with the ship's controls.
"It's a bit of a walk, I just need to find somewhere to land."
They approached a clearing, and Padmé called for the twins to wake up. The ship landed in a grassy field, causing the nearby trees to sway.
"Where are we?" Luke asked, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
"We're going to meet some new people, okay? You two need to stay with me or Nova at all times," Padmé told the kids as she leaned down to readjust their coats. She pulled her own hood over her head and turned to Nova.
"Let's go."

——

"How much further?" Luke groaned. They trudged through the trees, Luke holding his mother's hand while Leia walked in front of them with Nova, seeming enamoured with the planet's beauty. Padmé glanced around them, scanning their environment for any threats.
"We're almost there," Nova said over her shoulder. Not even a minute later, a large building appeared on the horizon. As they got closer, they were stopped by a sudden yell.
"Stop! State your business!"
Nova stood in front of the little family and responded in a loud voice.
"I am Nova Rebere, I am looking for Obi Wan Kenobi!"
"And who is that?" The guard asked, gesturing his blaster to Padmé, who was shielding the children behind her.
"She on the run from the empire, she has information for Jedi Kenobi."
The guard paused, lowering his weapon.
"Stay there," he said, disappearing into the base.

Leia stepped out from behind her mother, wanting a closer look.
"Leia," Padmé called, beckoning her daughter closer. She grabbed her hand, holding Luke's with the other, before turning to Nova.
"Won't they know who I am?" She asked.
"Some may, but you look very different than when they've seen you. We just have to be careful. Some people may not be happy with you being here."
The guard appeared again. This time his blaster was lowered.
"Obi Wan Kenobi is not here right now, but one of his associates will see you."

——

After handing in their weapons and being pat down, they were escorted into what looked like a meeting room. Padmé paced back and forth, staying between her kids and the door. It opened with a loud noise, startling them. Padmé immediately moved closer to her children, not even looking at the person that appeared.

"Nova, I assume?" The voice was very familiar, causing her heart to speed up.  Padmé quickly turned around . In front of the was a young togruta with blue and white tendrils and blue eyes that widened as they met hers.

"Padmé?"
"Ahsoka?"
Padmé fought the urge to run to her old friend, worried that she hated her for joining Anakin. But all seemed forgotten as Ashoka ran toward and wrapped her in a hug, squeezing her tightly.
Padmé sniffed, squeezing her back before pulling away and smiling at her.
"Look at you, all grown up and even more beautiful," she cupped her face in a motherly way, laughing about how the ex Jedi was taller now than her.
"You haven't aged a day, senator." Ahsoka laughed. She glanced over Padmé's shoulder at the confused kids.
"And who's this?"
"Luke, Leia, this is Ahsoka. She was a good friend of mommy and daddy."
Ahsoka gave her a look that said many things before she knelt down to the twin's level.
"Hello, little ones. It's nice to meet you," she said warmly.
Leia narrowed her eyes, studying her while Luke bounded over excitedly.
"Are you daddy's padawan?" He asked. Ahsoka smiled sadly.
"I used to be, a long time ago."

Ahsoka stood back up and turned her attention to Nova. "You we're looking for Obi Wan, right?"
"Yes. He tasked me with getting Padmé and the children here safely." Nova nodded.
"Where is Obi Wan?" Padmé asked, worried that she hadn't heard from him since he told her about the attack on the old rebel base.
"He went out on a mission a while ago, but we've lost contact and he hasn't reported in." Ahsoka was clearly anxious.
"I'm sure he'll be fine, Ahsoka. He's gotten out of much worse," Padmé put a hand on her shoulder.
"You're right. Well," Ahsoka smiled at them. "Let's get you settled in."
