Sesshomaru’s POV
The river of miasma crawled along the forest like a living wound, its poisonous breath curling through the air. Even I could feel its corruption pressing against my senses.
Yet none of that held my attention.
They were staring at him.
At my child.
“…He’s the child Lady Kiara was talking about… right? Everyone?” the girl called Kagome asked slowly, her wide eyes fixed on the boy in my arms.
“Y-yeah,” Inuyasha muttered, scratching the back of his head while continuing to stare. “Didn’t expect him to be so… cute.”
The word felt strange in the air.
Cute.
My gaze swept across their faces. Every single one of them looked at Kouta with the same soft expression—curiosity, wonder… adoration.

“W-well that was—!”

My grip around Kouta tightened slightly.
For a long moment, I studied them.
Then slowly… I lowered my blade.
The relief in the air was immediate.
But the moment my sword lowered, the child in my arms began to squirm.
I glanced down at him.
Kouta wriggled insistently, small hands pushing against my chest.
He wanted down.
“…What are you doing?” I murmured quietly.
Nevertheless, I crouched and placed him gently on the ground.
The moment his feet touched the earth, he bolted.
“Uncle! Uncle!”
His small tail swayed excitedly behind him as he ran straight toward—
