Space and Assurance

I've been sitting here leaning against the tree for a while now and Yelena has called me 7 more times. I sigh when it rings again. I pick it up this time.

I hear a shaky sigh from her. "Finally! Where the fuck are you?!" She asks she sounds choked up. Like she's been crying. "I'm not gonna stay at home tonight," I say lowly into the phone, and I can hear her suck in a breath "Wh- What are you talking about?!" Her voice shudders. "I'm gonna give you some space..." I explain "Space?! I don't need space!" She objects I let out a shaky breath. She sounds hurt.

"Y/n please come home. I need you to come home." She begs her tone becoming ragged. "Please..." She whispers I hang up when I hear a quiet sob from Yelena. I head home knowing she needs me right now.

When I enter I find Yelena crouched in the corner of the living room crying into one of my shirts. She hasn't noticed that I'm back yet so I walk up to her and kneel down in front of her and place my hand onto her cheek wiping her tears away. She looks up at me with her red and glossy eyes for a moment making another sob escape her mouth as she slumps into my lap wrapping herself around my waist.

I've never seen her like this before. "I thou- I thought that you- you were leaving me!" She explains between sobs squeezing me harder. I lace my hands around her back pulling her closer. "Why would I leave you, моя любовь (my love)? You're the last person I have and also the only person I want to have." I assure her in a whisper. She rests her forehead on my shoulder and chuckles lowly wiping her tears. "I'm sorry... I'm such a mess just because I got scared." She confesses quietly her forehead still laying on my shoulder. "Don't apologize for your feelings. They're all valid no matter how many at once" I assure her and tilt my head to kissing her cheek.

"I need to call Mr. Barlowe." She states once she's calmed down and I tilt my head at her. "You didn't let me finish before you ran off," she says "I'm sorry," I say shamefully looking down at my lap. Lena's hand pulls my face up to hers and she kisses me slowly before continuing. "Mr. Lewis is the vice-principal therefore he doesn't even have the right to make any decisions without Barlowe's okay. Lewis said that Barlowe was there but I don't buy it since he said that he was ok with our relationship even before you turned 18." She explains.

That just made me feel stupid. My overdramatic outburst was not needed. I sigh and look down at my lap again. "What's wrong?" Yelena asks placing her hands under my jaw. "It's nothing I just feel like a fucking idiot right now. That dramatic exit was so useless and just not even needed." I sigh lowly. "Maybe it was but you felt multiple emotions at once and you reacted to them and however it might've been it was ok and acceptable. You got scared. So did I but we're going to be alright. We'll get over it together." She assures me. I feel better now knowing that she's not mad. "I'm gonna go call Barlowe and just to be clear I wasn't pissed at you I was fucking pissed at Lewis." She says and I nod "I'll start on dinner" I say and we exchange a quick kiss before moving to our tasks.

After about 10 minutes I feel Yelena wrap herself around me. "I'm not suspended. Barlowe reminded me that he was supportive of our relationship and Lewis is gonna deal with the consequences of making decisions without him." She explains while watching me cook. "Thank God." I sigh. "It would've been fine either way, my love." She says pecking the top of my shoulder. I turn around to give her a proper kiss and turn back to continue cooking. Once I'm done we eat and Yelena washes the dishes while I fix us drinks because we definitely need it today.

We drink our drinks while we watch an episode of (Show of your choice) once we're done with that we take a hot shower and cuddle up in bed we exchange light kisses that become lazier over time as we drift off. I'm so glad that things turned out fine in the end.
