Haylee’s POV

Having the guys over had been a lot of fun, but I had to finish studying. I had two exams tomorrow and then I would officially be on Christmas Break.

I sat cross legged on my bed, twirling a strand of hair as I poured over the notes for my English class again. A small knock at the door startled me and I looked up. It was Dan. “Hey.” He greeted me in a low tone.

“Hey.” I sighed. Dan frowned and sat down on the bed next to me.

      “What is it?” He asked.

“This stupid English exam! I’m freaking out. Ugh, English is usually so easy for me!” I cried, disgusted.

“Let me see. Ah, yeah, this isn’t so bad. It’s just Shakespeare. All you need to do is analyze the chapters and try to find out what Macbeth is saying. Do you want me to help you?” He asked.

“Yeah, that would be great!” I answered. Dan helped me for a while, but eventually our study session turned into a make out session. Our hands roamed each other’s bodies, wanting so desperately to go farther. We broke apart, panting heavily for breath. “Do you want to?” I asked him, my forehead resting against his. He nodded but bit his lip.

“I don’t know. My body says yes, but my heart is saying wait.” He told me. I nodded.

“Same. I want to give my virginity to the one I’m going to be with forever. I want that to be you.” I whispered. His eyes lit up.

“Well, then here,” Dan pulled a ring from his pocket. “This is my old high school ring. This is a pledge that until we know for sure, I will wait.”

Dan slid the ring onto my finger. “I pledge. I will wait.” We laughed at our own silliness and began to kiss again. It was getting heated and I could feel myself getting turned on. I broke away, needing air. “Mm, we’ve got to stop. I’m getting too worked up.” Dan nodded in agreement.

“I need a cold shower.” He mumbled, leaving the room. I laughed, grabbing my books and reading the notes again. Eventually, I fell asleep.

Phil’s POV

I straightened my tie and grabbed the box. Tonight was the night. I’d been dating Aubrey for a while now and I was ready. I was going to propose. Glancing at my phone to check the time, I grabbed my keys and left. Arriving at Aubrey’s flat, I shut off the car and knocked on her door. She opened it and I was floored. She looked gorgeous. Her hair was swept into an up do and she was wearing a beautiful emerald green dress.

“Wow, you look amazing, love!” I complemented. Aubrey blushed and I took her hand. Carefully I led her to the car. The drive to the restaurant was short and filled with light-hearted conversation.

“Phil, this place is so elegant! You really went all out tonight.” Aubrey commented.

“Anything for the best, darling.” We ordered and after our meal, I took her to a small, lit gazebo in the park. My heart was beating a thousand miles a minute and my palms were sweaty. “Aubrey Alison Daniels, I love you more than toast. I want to spend my life with you, making random faces at the camera and telling little stories and dressing up like lions for Halloween. I want to decorate the tree with you and sit by the fire. But most importantly, I want you to be my wife. So, will you marry me?”

“Phil, oh baby. I’m so sorry. No. I can’t. I’m too young! I’m sorry, it’s not you. It’s me, I swear.” She whispered. My heart sank and I felt so stupid. “I’m sorry, Phil, but it’s over between us. I want to see what’s out there for me.”
