Haylee’s POV

Dan and I had taken Haylee and Phil back to the hotel to our respective rooms. Chassidy was a crying mess and Phil just looked…dead. We’d taken two separate cabs so as to not make Chassidy and Phil suffer. “I messed up so bad!” Chassidy cried as we sat on the couch of our room.

“Look, it’s not that bad, dear. Just apologize. You didn’t mean it, right?” I asked.

Chassidy’s eyes went wide. “No! No, of course not! I love Phil. Though right now, the trust we had is broken. He hurt me and although it was unintentional, it’s going to take some time.” The sound of something breaking made us both jump. “T-that came from Dan and Phil’s room!”

“Phil! Stop! Don’t do this! You know you don’t want to do this!” Dan’s muffled voice screamed. I jumped up and ran towards the door, motioning for Chassidy to stay there. I banged frantically on Dan and Phil’s door. “IT’S OPEN!” Dan yelled. I ran in and gasped. Phil was standing in the window, about to jump. We were on the eighth floor. It would kill him! Phil was crying and his hand was bleeding.

“Phil, don’t jump! Please! Chassidy doesn’t really hate you! She was just upset!” I begged.

Phil laughed. “Yeah, you’re just saying that! She hates me! I’d be better off dead!”

“I know how you feel, okay?! I feel that way every freaking day! Trust me, I’ve tried before and living is so much better!” I reasoned. Phil just shook his head and nearly lost his balance. Dan darted forward a bit, but stopped. He didn’t want to scare Phil and make him fall. He turned to me, still keeping an eye on Phil.

“Haylee…” Dan whispered quietly. “Go get Chassidy. She may be the only one who can stop him from doing this.” I nodded and ran out of the room. I yelled for Chassidy and she peeked out from our room.

“What?” She asked, wiping her eyes.

“You have to come to Dan and Phil’s room now!” I cried.

“No! I don’t want to see him!” She retorted.

“Phil is about to jump out of an eighth floor window! You’re the only one who can stop him!” I yelped. Chassidy’s eyes filled with fear and panic as she ran past me into the room.

“PHIL!” She screamed. “DON’T! I LOVE YOU! I’M SORRY!” Phil spun to face her but lost his footing and hit his head on the window frame. Dan sprang into action and leapt towards Phil’s falling frame. He grabbed him just in time and pulled him inside. The two of them collapse on the ground, Phil unconscious and Dan shaking and crying.

“Phil?” Dan whimpered. “Phil, wake up! Please! Dammit, I already almost lost you once today; I won’t lose you for real this time!” He begged. I helped Dan lift Phil onto the bed.

“Dan, take Chassidy and get her something to eat or something please. I’m going to find Alfie. He’ll know what to do.” I said as calmly as I could. Dan nodded and carefully led Chassidy from the room.

I dashed down the hall to Alfie and Caspar’s room and knocked on the door. “Haylee!” Caspar greeted me.

“Hey Caspar. Where’s Alfie? I need him.” I asked. Just then Alfie appeared in the doorway as well.

“Right here, what’s going on?” He asked.

“It’s Phil. He’s injured. I need your help, Alfie.” I sighed. Alfie nodded and followed me to Dan and Phil’s room.

“What happened?” Alfie asked as he took Phil’s pulse.

“He – he tried to jump out the window.” I answered.

      “What?!” Alfie cried.

“It’s a long story that we can talk about some other time. He hit his head when he almost fell. Dan caught him, thankfully. He took Chassidy to try and calm her down. She’s freaking out.” I explained. Alfie kept quiet, just listening and nodding.

“I need my supplies from my room.” He mused. Alfie left and returned a minute later, his bag in hand and Caspar following him. He bandaged Phil’s hand up first before examining his head. He opened Phil’s eyes and shown a light in them before putting away his tools. “He’s alright. Just gave him a good knock on the head is all. Doesn’t look to be a concussion but we won’t know until he wakes up, which we need to get him to do. He will have a slight bump on his head, but you can take that down with an ice pack. Since there’s not one around, Caspar will you go get some ice from the ice machine?” Caspar nodded and left the room, returning a few minutes later with the bucket of ice. I wrapped some in a towel and placed it to Phil’s forehead. He winced and his eyes shot open. He tried to sit up, but Alfie pressed him back down.

“Don’t try to get up, Phil,” I soothed. “You hit your head pretty hard and you need to get up slowly, alright?” He nodded slightly, but whimpered as it made him dizzy.

“Where’s Chassidy?” He croaked, his voice worn out from crying and tiredness.

“Dan took her to get something to eat and calm her down as well as himself. He saved you, Phil. You nearly died.” I told him.

      “I know…” he whispered. “I’m such a screw-up.”

“No, you’re not.” I replied. “Thanks for your help Alfie. You too, Caspar.”

“It’s no problem. If you need anything else you know where to find me.” He said as they left the room. Phil sighed and scooted into a sitting postion, wincing and holding his head as well as trying not to put weight on his injured hand as well.

“I- I’ve lost her. I have no reason to live now.” He whispered.
