Phil’s POV
I shut the ring box and got up. Aubrey pulled me in for one last kiss and then I took her home. I sat in my car for a few minutes, unable to think. “DAMMIT!” I screamed, slamming my hand against the wheel. I’d been so stupid. Aubrey was right, it was too soon. We’d been drifting apart anyway and I’d known this would happen.
The drive back to the house was short and I let a few tears slip. Finally, I slammed the door to the car and headed upstairs to face my friends.
Haylee’s POV
It didn’t take long for me to give up on studying. Dan was still in the shower and I was feeling exhausted. I could hear Dan singing and I grinned, an idea forming in my head. I grabbed my camera and began to film. “Hey guys! Haylee here and I have a treat for you guys! Dan’s taking a shower right now and he likes to sing in the shower. So let’s go see if we can catch him singing! Shhh.” I tiptoed into the bathroom and almost burst out laughing.
“I want to reconcile the violence in your heart. I want to recognize your beauty's not just a mask. I want to exorcise the demons from your past. I want to satisfy the undisclosed desires in your heart!” Dan sang. The water shut off and I froze. The shower curtain flew back. “WHAT THE HELL?!” Dan screamed. He grabbed the shower curtain and pulled it in front of him. I shut off the camera.
“S-sorry! I was just…um. Well, I heard you singing and I decided to have a bit of fun and play a joke on you and show the fans…” I whispered brokenly. Dan grabbed his towel and stepped out of the shower, the towel around his waist.
“Hey, it’s okay.” He chuckled. “You just startled me is all. I don’t care if you show the fans, however you may want to edit out the part where I’m naked.” Dan wrapped his arms around me. He was still wet, but I didn’t care. I chuckled.
“Okay, I’ll take that part out,” I smiled. “But you might want to get dressed.” Dan laughed and nodded, heading to his room to get dressed. I sat down at my desk after getting changed and loaded my camera card into my laptop. I began work on editing the video as Dan came up behind me.
“Hello love, want some help?” He asked sweetly, sitting down beside me.
“Sure. I have the editing all done for the most part, if you just want to take a look and make sure it looks okay, that’d be great.” Dan and I sat again for a few minutes just watching the video and laughing and in that moment, everything was perfect to me.
Suddenly, our mood was broken by the slamming of a door. We got up and walked out to the lounge. “Phil? What’s going on?” Dan asked.
“Aubrey and I broke up.” He growled.
“Aw, man. I’m really sorry.” Dan replied.
“Yeah, hey, you’ll find someone!” I told him.
“Thanks guys. It was going to happen anyway. We were growing apart.” He sighed. Dan and I pulled Phil in for a hug. “Alright, well, I’m going to go to bed. I need some sleep.”
