So, basically this was originally part of the story, but with the canon ending because this is also a non-canon ending. But there was a concept I was going to do but scraped it due for a continuity error I would be making. Okay, so before I could explain that, here's what I was doing:

You know the creature that is seen at the end of Origins and Knight, I call it Knightmare, a monster version of Batman. So, I had a little theory that Knightmare can be a physical character, but only when Batman dies, because a demon possesses Batman's body upon death, and turning him, basically, into a zombie Batman. But this couldn't be proven because Batman dying isn't canon to the story at all, until the alternative ending in Arkham City.

During the Catwoman segments, the player gets a choice to help Batman, or leave him to die. This is the only time in the game where Batman dying isn't the player's fault, as they would be indirectly responsible. The credits prove what happens after Batman dies, and Knightmare obliviously doesn't appear.

So, that's why the threat of Knightmare never became a thing in the story.

3rd Person P.O.V.

Moonlight jabbed her sharp nails into Batman's abdomen, penetrating his armor and skin. Batman grasped Moonlight's head to shock her even more with his Shock Gloves. This made Moonlight's hand go deeper before she finally poofed.

Five gemstones drop to the floor and Batman picks them all up. Blood is spilling on the floor, and Batman's vision is getting darker. Blood drops hit the gemstones while he searched for his grapple in his belt.

He grappled up and out of the Palace before it collapsed. Batman meets Spinel on the rooftop and the blood doesn't stop spilling.

(Spinel) Batman! Oh, my stars! Are you okay?

Batman gave Spinel the gemstones before falling on his knees and then to his side. Spinel bubbled the Diamonds and set them aside while she checks on the Dark Knight.

(Spinel) Batman? Batman?

A blood pool was shortly made after he fell. Spinel noticed his chest stopped moving. She placed her ear on his chest to listen for heartbeats.

Batman stopped breathing, and his heart stopped beating. Spinel tried moving his blood back into his open wound, but she doesn't know it doesn't work like that. This only get blood on her gloved hands.

She starts to cry as she doesn't know what to do. The Diamonds and Moonlight are secure but what of Batman? He's the reason why they're secure in the first place.

Spinel sits on the ground and hugs her knees, hoping Batman would get better.

(Spinel) H-He's f-f-fine. He's just... sleeping...

After minutes of silence, Batman's fingers moved slightly, this didn't go unnoticed by Spinel. She watched as his fingers moved and made a fist before he opened his hand, and then his voice sounded dry and rasp. He sounded like he needed to cough.

(Spinel) B-Batman...?

She crawled over to him and looked him in the eyes. His eyes were shut tight and then they opened, revealing an orange light. Spinel crawled back.

That wasn't Batman anymore...
