Natasha closed the door behind her and pulled out the chair from Wanda's desk. She took a seat on it, opposite Wanda who was still sat on the bed. Before she spoke, she took in a deep breath.

"Look, I've been trying to think of what I could say to make this better, and I could sit here and try and bullshit you but I think too much of you for that. So I'm just going to give it to you straight. I get that you're mad at what happened. It sucked. I pulled away and that sucks. It wasn't exactly how I would have liked that whole situation to have happened either. I did what I thought was the right thing to do. I'm not going to say I regret it because I don't, and I would do it again."

Wanda just stayed quiet, watching Natasha carefully. Natasha continued to explain.

"My only regret is that your feelings got hurt. I didn't want to hurt you, Wanda. I've never wanted to hurt you. You're my friend before anything else, and I really miss my friend. We both know that if something like that was going to happen between us then that really wasn't the time or place."

Natasha paused, and realised that she had quickly ran out of things to say, luckily Wanda was ready to respond.

"I know."

"You know? Well why have you been shutting me out?" Natasha asked, confused.

"I've been embarrassed," Wanda admitted.

"Embarrassed of what?" Natasha still didn't understand.

"Oh come on Natasha, you know what. As soon as I left that morning I wanted to go back and apologise, but I didn't know how. I didn't know how to explain how I felt, or why I did it. I still don't know why I did it. I just didn't have any answers for you so I avoided speaking to you all together."

"You probably didn't need to ignore me for this long, Wanda," Natasha replied, her tone was slightly hurt.

"I know, and I'm sorry for shutting you out. I didn't know what you were going to say, or how you were going to react, and I guess I just wasn't ready to hear it."

The two women sat in silence for a few moments. Natasha was expecting Wanda to be angry, but instead she seemed just kind of sad. Not sad like how she was before, but more disappointed.

"I didn't want to lose you as my friend Natasha, and I was afraid that I would."

Natasha moved over to the bed and sat beside Wanda, "Did you really think I would have been that persistent to talk to you to just tell you to go away?"

Wanda thought about it for a minute, and then began to laugh, "It does seem ridiculous, doesn't it?"

"You need to stop pushing people away Wanda."

"I know," Wanda said quietly, "I missed you too, by the way."

"Oh yeah? Well how about next time you open the door and let me in then?" Natasha joked.

"Okay. Deal," Wanda agreed.

The two women then caught up on what they had missed in each others lives while they weren't speaking. Wanda let Natasha know how her flight training was going with Sam and Rhodey, and Natasha again assured Wanda that she was now fully healed - even having to show her her ribs to prove it.

They continued like this for a few hours, before Natasha decided she needed sleep and went to get up.

"I think it's time for bed," she said, stretching as she got to her feet.

"Yeah you're right," Wanda yawned in agreement, "I'm really glad you came by."

"Yeah, me too."

"Good night, Natasha."
