J E N N I E"I'm so nervous." I told Skylar as we entered one of the school's round rooms. "I was nervous during my first year as well. But I'm certain you'll do amazing." She smiled as we took a seat in the front row.
We had to sit there. No other seats were taken. I looked over in the row that was across from us and I saw Rachel sitting next to Brody. Our eyes locked and she gave me a smile and a thumbs up. I returned the gesture with a smile as well.
"You sing too?" I asked surprisedly. "Of course. How else would I be a musical theatre major?" Victoria laughed. "Right. Sorry, I act a little dumb when I'm nervous." I laughed awkwardly.
"It's fine. I find it endearing." Skylar smiled. Our conversation immediately ended as soon as Carmen Tibideaux entered the room. My nerves increased by ten thousand just by looking at her. Carmen is a very blunt person.
She can reject you in an instant. All you have to do is hit one wrong note or sing in a way she doesn't like and you're out of there.
"Returning students, welcome back. New students, welcome to the round room. The acoustics are perfect and there are no corners. Which means there's nowhere to hide in here." Carmen said seriously.
"First-year students will have the opportunity to sing publicly twice. The first time today, the Debut. Also known as the freshman reaping." The dean of our university informed us.
"The second, the Winter Showcase at the end of the semester...if you're invited. Shall we begin? Beatrice McClaine." She finished before taking a seat in the front row. The girl walked up to the front of the room.
"My name is Beatrice McClaine and I'll be singing Ave Maria written by Franz Schubert." The girl introduced herself. As soon as the music started she began.
