Chapter 42 - Her birthday -1

Next day Arjun left outstation for an office work or that’s what he said at home. And for Shalini it was easy to avoid Arjun without getting caught by their family.

Shalini really missed him for those two days but consoled herself that she has to  experience it once again after their divorce and it's just a teaser for it.

Shalini was asleep when some loud noise of someone speaking heard. She opened her eyes and for a minute panicked when Arjun was not beside her and then realized that he was out of town for the last 2 days. And the voice from outside increased and it looked like someone having a quarrel. She was confused who was arguing this late at night. She got out of bed and walked out of the room.

She opened the door and was shocked at the scene .Vishwa and Jaya were having an argument and it looked like they were literally fighting which was completely a new sight at the house. 

Shalini: ma, pa … with her voice they stopped arguing and turned to her

Shalini: ena nadakuthu.. Ethuku ipa sanda pudichutu irukinga?

Jaya: atha Unga appa kitaya kelu .. She said in an angry tone.

Shalini: ena pa ena prechana..

Vishwa: Unga Amma tha prechana..onu illa tha ella perusu panitu iruka

Jaya: na ungaluku prechanaya?

Vishwa: ama

Jaya: oh na thana prechana.. apa na poran..

Vishwa: po

She glared at Vishwa and started walking towards the terrace. Shalini stood there confused for a minute and turned to look at Vishwa who was standing there angrily, then ran in the way Jaya went.

She reached the terrace and stood at the doorway. It was dark and Jaya was missing. 

She moved few steps before and the lights turned on with blast of birthday poppers and she heard a chorus 

“Happy birthday Shalini” .

Sruthi, vinoth, prakash, her parents , her brother, Pavi’s parents, pavi , anand and aadhya were there. She stood there surprised rooted to the ground  , If it was the years like previous years she would not have been surprised as it was an early ritual her family did for her but this year she was a surprise not because what they did but because with all the commotion in her heart and brain she forgot her own birthday. Even in that moment of happiness her eyes searched for Arjun and got disappointed when she did not find him.

She came out of her trance and noticed Jaya who came up was missing. She turned and found Vishwa and Jaya smiling at her.

Shalini: apa ithu Ella drama va?

They smiled sheepishly and nodded at her to move forward. She smiled and  walked towards her family and everyone wished her. 

Shalini: epa ithu Ella arrange Paninga?

Pavi: nanga enga Pano?

Shalini: apram? She asked, genuinely confused.

Pavi tilted her head and pointed to the doorway of the terrace. Shalini frowned her eyes in confusion and turned and was more surprised, Arjun stood there with a guitar in his hand.

Arjun smiled at her and started playing a birthday tune using a guitar. After that dream Shalini stopped expecting things from Arjun but Arjun planning a surprise for her birthday was totally out of the box. Shalini was in a trance that she even forgot to notice that he moved forward and was now standing in front of her.
