Chapter 146 - His Birthday

Shalini slowly peeked into the room to find Appu lying on Arjun's chest while Arjun was holding him protectively bringing a smile on her face. She sighed as her plan worked as Appu somehow convinced Arjun to sleep early exactly as she said. She slowly tiptoed into the room and sat beside them and tried to wake Appu but failed causing Arjun to stir in sleep. She sighed before forcefully taking Appu out of Arjun's tight hold and tiptoeing out of the room.

Arjun who was acting all the time asleep opened his eyes once he heard the door close and chuckled guessing her actions. He knew why she was acting the way and felt the urge to find out what she was actually upto but not wanting to spoil her attempts he just stayed back in the room.

Shalini brought Appu downstairs and sat on the couch with Appu on her lap.

Shalini: Appu elunthuru da.

Appu: po ma.. enakku thookam varuthu..

He hugged her tighter seeking her warmth.

Shalini: pattu elunthuru late aguthu..

Appu woke up with a jerk and rubbed his eyes to be fully awake.

She said with a wide smile and took him inside the kitchen.

She bit back her smile and tapped on his cheeks making him giggle.

Shalini: un Appa kudayum partner kudayum senthu unaku kolupu athigam airuchu da..

Appu giggled: Seri ma va cake panalam late aachu..

Shalini: seri poi stool eduthutu va.. apa tha unaku counter etum..

Appu nodded enthusiastically and ran out of the kitchen and returned back with a stool and climbed on it. Shalini ruffled his hair and started prepping for the cake. Once she was done arranging all the needed things on the table she started guiding Appu and he did exactly what she said without making a mess surprising her. She was really surprised to see him do everything with almost care and felt like she was seeing the reflection of what Arjun did for Appu's birthday. She stared at Appu with a smile while he was trying to match the cake to the one on the mobile screen.

Appu: Amma done.. he squealed in happiness when he was finally satisfied with work.

Shalini hugged him and kissed his cheeks with pride on her face.
