"It's so good to be back together again, all of us." Patrick smiled and hugged me tightly as I carried Bodhi into his house, Pete and Bronx following closely behind.
Evening had rolled around and it was no surprise that Patrick decided to organise a post tour party. Pete and I spent the entire day in our pyjamas at home with the boys. With no plans, it was the perfect way to spend the first day with Pete back at home with us. Bronx made Pete read the entire of his diary whilst watching over his shoulder, I found it cute but excused myself to spend some more time with Bodhi.
Arriving at Patrick's, there were already a lot of people here since the pavements were littered with cars. It wasn't a huge party, just the boys from the band, Brendon, Sarah and Calum, Spencer and I was pretty sure I saw Gabe's car parked outside too. I hadn't seen him in a few weeks so I was looking forward to getting inside and saying hello to everyone for the first time in a while.
"Come on, let me get you a drink!" Patrick led us through to the kitchen where I saw bottles everywhere. It was clear they'd started long before we arrived.
Patrick handed me a glass on wine and Pete a beer. He gave Bronx a juice carton and offered to give Bodhi some milk but it wasn't his feeding time yet.
We walked through into the lounge where everyone was sat. Almost immediately I was greeted by Sarah who hugged me. We spoke for a while and I noticed Bronx and Calum playing together on the xbox. Brendon joined in the conversation and not long after, Pete got involved too. Brendon was eager to know about tour and he and Pete eventually drifted off into the hallway where Pete's iPhone pictures became a full on presentation to others.
I just laughed to myself and walked up the stairs to find the bathroom. Patrick had moved house but this home still resembled our old one, bringing back a few memories. I walked down the laminate flooring and peered into all the rooms, trying to find the right one. Just as I reached for the handle of the fourth, the door swung open.
"Ellianah!" Gabe produced a huge smile and I smiled back.
"Hey Gabe, it's been like a month since I last saw you!" Gabe and I hugged. It felt as though he was holding on for longer than usual but I didn't mind, I liked Gabe's hugs a lot.
"I know, sorry. Music and stuff, you know?" He scratched the side of his neck and I just nodded, showing that I understood.
A silence followed.
"So where are the boys? Did you bring Bodhi? I missed that kid," He chuckled.
"Downstairs, I think Bodhi's with Pete-"
"What about me?"
I spun on my heels and faced Pete who reached the top of the stairs. He stood next to me and slid his arm around my waist, kissing my cheek. Gabe stood awkwardly and I wondered why the two weren't talking, they were best friends.
"I was just saying that Bodhi was with you but, obviously not." I laughed nervously, feeling awkward in the situation.
"He's with Spencer. I just came to find you and tell you that the food is here."
"Okay, I was just going to the bathroom so," I smiled at Pete who nodded and released his grasp around me.
"Sure," he said, "Nice to see you, Gabe."
Pete turned and headed down the staircase as I entered the bathroom. Sighing, I knew I had let my annoying curiosity get the better of my sense as I ran out of the bathroom and grabbed Gabe's arm. Making sure Pete was gone, I started to talk.
"What's going on?"
"What?" Gabe raised an eyebrow, confused. I wasn't buying any of it.
"Don't, Gabe. What's going on? What happened with you and Pete? Have I done something wrong-"
"No," Gabe silenced me quickly.
"Then what is it?"
I stood, staring up at Gabe. I watched as he nervously chewed on the inside of his bottom lip, his eyes darting around the corridor and his hands stuffed deep into his back pockets. He sighed loudly and I thought he was about to speak, but instead, he said nothing but words that confused me even more.
"It doesn't matter. Just...it doesn't matter. I need to get back downstairs, I left Brendon with my beer."
Before I could say another word, Gabe was gone and I was left alone on the landing. Something was going on between my boyfriend and my best friend and nothing was going to stop me from finding out just what that was.
