TW: Continued conversations from previous chapters of drug use and addiction
It was the end of the day, sets were done and they had another 3 hours until bus call before they departed to their next destination.
It wasn't a long drive between San Diego and Mountain View, the first few days of the tour were all California dates and lucky for them they only had two more until they got a day off.
"Claire texted me" Jawn announces softly, and everyone looks his way not really sure why he felt the need to let everyone know.
"Are y'all going to finally talk photography? That's awesome man!" Geoff says encouragingly, but Jawn shakes his head.
"She wants to talk to us." he says looking over at Otto and Awsten, and both boys shoot him confused looks.
"Why us?" Otto asks him, cocking his head to the side slightly confusion very clear in his voice and body language.
Awsten sat there speechless, not knowing what to say or why he was included in the group of people that she wanted to talk to considering the fact that she had told them they weren't going to be friends and to not talk to her.
Awsten knows that he was being stubborn about the entire situation. The last thing that he wanted was for her to be uncomfortable or for him to hurt again, she had set clear boundaries to not talk to her and he wasn't going to overstep those.
"She wants to talk about Madison." Jawn explained to the both of them before passing the phone over for Awsten and Otto for them to read the text she had sent.
Claire
If I still know you
Awsten, and Otto the way
I used to I am sure you
guys are full of questions
after hearing the song
during our set today.I want to talk to you guys,
you deserve and explanation.
I know how much you three
loved her. Meet me by the
picnic tables in 15 minutes? Both boys feel their hearts begin to race.
"Loved her? Why did she used past tense?" Awsten asks frantically, feeling his heart race and dread fill him with the fear of the worst flooding to the fore front of his mind.
Jawn presses his lips together, not knowing what to say. He didn't know what was going on either, and he had that same fear since he first read the text but didn't want to be the one to say it out loud.
"I don't know Aws. Try not to panic though, we'll go talk to her and get answers." he tells Awsten reassuringly.
"I just don't know if I should go, I don't want her to feel like she's obligated to tell me things just because I heard the song. She wouldn't of told us if we hadn't of heard that. You guys know that." Awsten says sadly.
The two boys nod their heads, knowing that he was completely right.
Before Jawn gets the chance to talk again, his phone goes off again still sitting in Awstens hand.
"It's Claire again." Awsten says going to hand the phone back to his friend.
"Go ahead and read it I'm sure it's about this anyway." he tells him, ushering him to open the message and see what else she has to say.
Claire
If you can,
make sure that Awsten comes too
I know I told him yesterday I didn't want
to talk to him but he needs to hear this.
Madison was like a little sister to him,
he's the main reason I want to have this
conversation. He deserves to know.
