It was 3am, and Awsten was wide awake.
He was no stranger to sleepless nights, and tossing and turning until his body finally gave in and he passed out but tonight was different.
After the conversation they had with Claire everyone went back to their busses and they didn't talk about it, he didn't really expect Otto or Jawn to have anything more about the situation to be honest.
Awsten didn't want to talk about it with them though, he wanted to talk to Claire. He wanted to help her, and it was killing him that he knew that there wasn't anything he could do to help.
He rolled to his side, grabbing his phone and finding Claires contact.
Her contact photo had been the same for over a decade now, a picture of them that was taken by Jawn one of the very first days they had hung out, even though it looked like it was 2 solid pixels now he never brought himself to changing it.
Claire had told him just the other night that her phone number was still the same to this day, and he wondered if he was to text her if it would go through or not.
Awsten let out a small breath, working up the courage to send her a text. The worst thing that could happen is that it wouldn't go through, and that's something that he was totally equip to handle.
Awsten
I'm not sure
if you still have my
number blocked, but
I just wanted to tell you
that I am here if you need
anything and I am thinking
of you and Madison always.
(Not delivered)He let out a small groan, that answered his question just about as quickly as it had come into his mind.
He quietly crept out of bed, making his way out in the main area searching the cabinets for melatonin knowing that he wasn't going to be able to fall asleep on his own tonight silently thanking the universe after finding two gummies at the bottom of the container.
He went over to the fridge grabbing a bottle of water and washing them down before making his way back to his bunk climbing in, and closing the curtain.
In a half asleep state he decided that he was going to talk to Claire in the morning.
...
"Why is it hotter than hell in here?" Derek asks groggily after rolling out of his bunk, sweat visible on his forehead.
Claire is up at the front of the bus with their driver, messing around with dials and knobs not really sure if she's actually helping or is just in the way.
It was only 8am so there was no reason why it should be this brutally hot already.
"I think the AC is broken, it's just blowing out hot air regardless of the setting it's on." Claire mumbles, wiping the sweat off of her brow before quickly throwing her hair up, desperate to get it off of her neck.
"Well what are we going to do now?" Chris asks, while sitting on the couch fanning himself with a notebook that was sitting on the table next to him.
Claire thinks for a moment, knowing that the boys were expecting her to come up with the next step.
"I could... call Otto and see if he knows anything?" she asks, looking around to see if anyone was objecting to her idea.
"Years ago back in Houston he fixed my shit box Corolla so that I didn't have to take it to a mechanic, I don't know if RV's are out of his expertise but it's worth a shot." Claire adds in as she looks around for her phone, not remembering where she put it.
