Raoul grabbed Christine's hand once he was free of Erik's Punjab. "Go now, go now, and leave me," Christine hears Erik yell from behind as Christine and Raoul run to Erik's boat.
Raoul begins to get the boat when Christine realizes that she still has Erik's ring on her finger. "I should return his ring, at least," Christine thinks to herself. Christine begins to walk towards Erik's room.
"Where are you going,"Raoul calls out to Christine. Christine turns around and says,"I'm just going to give Erik his ring back. I'll be right back."
As Christine walked towards Erik's room, she heard music from, what sounded like a music box, Erik's room. Christine stood in Erik's doorway as Erik sang along to the song from his monkey music box.
When the sing finished, Erik looked up at Christine."Christine, I love you," Erik sang. Christine walked over to Erik, took his hand, pulled the ring off her finger, and placed the ring in Erik's hand. Christine turned and began to walk away, but she couldn't leave.
Every memory she had with him flooded back into her brain. All the vocal lessons, when Christine met him in person for the first time, the two of them getting so close at the masquerade ball, when they sang "Past the Point of No Return", and when she kissed him. There was so much electricity when Christine kissed Erik; when Christine kissed Raoul she felt nothing. Christine knew that Erik was the one she's supposed to be with, not Raoul.
Christine turned around and faced Erik. "Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime," Christine sang as she walked towards Erik. Erik looked up at her, surprised, and skeptically sang,"Say the word and I will follow you." Christine's heart leap for joy when she heard Erik sing that. "Share each day with me, each night, each morning," Christine sang."Erik, I'm so sorry. I chose you," Christine cried, as she hugged Erik. Erik's body stiffened when Christine hugged him. He couldn't believe that Christine had actually said that; Christine, an angel, wanted to stay with him, a monster. He wrapped his arms around her, realxing a little. Christine pulled back and looked Erik in the eyes.
"Erik, I'm not leaving with Raoul. I'm staying her with you," Christine said,"I love you." Erik was ecstatic; Christine loved him. "I've always loved you, Christine and I always will," Erik said,"If you stay with me though, we will always have to be on the run. You won't have a normal life. Are you willing to give up the chance to have a normal life to be with me?"
"Yes," Christine answered,"as long as I am with you, I don't care where we go or how we live." Christine leaned in and kissed Erik on the lips.
After a minute, Christine and Erik pull away for air. Christine hears the mob getting closer and Erik looks into Christine's eyes. "We have to now," Erik says. Christine nods and Erik gently takes her hand and pulls her towards the mirrors. He grabs a candlestick, walks over to a mirror with a blanket draped over it, pulls the blanket off, and breaks the glass with the candlestick.
Erik is pulling Christine into the mirror, when Christine suddenly hears,"Christine, where are you going?" Christine turns around to sees Raoul, with hurt and betrayal in his eyes. "I'm sorry, Raoul, but I love Erik," Christine says.
"I know love when I see it," Raoul says, smiling,"Go, I'll tell the mob a story of why you're not here." Christine smiles at Raoul,"Thank you so much for being an amazing friend, Raoul. I hope we can see each other again soon," Christine says to Raoul. Erik pulls Christine into the mirror and pulls the blanket over the entrance so no one would see the passageway.
Erik expertly leads Christine through the catacomb to the stable, where a horse was waiting. Erik helps Christine onto the horse and then gets on too. The horse begins galloping out of Paris towards the woods, towards Christine and Erik's future together.
