Christine wakes up and sees that she is a boat with a cape on top of her as a blanket. Memories of last night flood back into her mind. Christine climbs out of the boat and begins to sing.
"I remember there was mist
Swirling mist upon a vast glassy lake
There were candles all around
And on the lake there was a boat
And in the boat there was a man."

Christine looks up and sees Erik at his organ, writing music on a music sheet. Christine quietly sneaks up behind him, while singing softly to herself.
"Who was that face in the shadows
Whose is that face in the mask."

While Christine tries to take the mask off, Erik looks to the side causeing Christine to pull her hand back quickly. Erik doesn't notice Christine's presence until he feels his mask pulled off his face.

Christine, with Erik's mask in her hands, sees his face. Patches of skin are missing in some places revealing the muscles underneath and his lips look like someone has scratched them and they're swollen and dark red. Erik's face wasn't what scared Christine; it was his reaction and anger that scared her.

Erik yelled and his hand flew to cover his face. "Damn you! You little prying padora, you little demon this is what you wanted to see," yelled Erik, grabbing Christine's arm and making her see his face again before throwing her to the ground. "Curse you! You little lying Deliah, you little viper! Now you never can be free! Damn you, Curse you!"

Erik looked down and saw Christine hundled on the ground, staring up at him with fear in her eyes. Guilt flooded his mind. "What have I done," he thought. Erik got on his hands and knees and began to crawl towards Christine, but she began to move away from him. Christine was scared that he was going to hurt her if he got too close.

"Fear can turn to love. You'll learn to see, to find the man behind the monster," Erik sang sadly,"this repulsive carcass, who seems a beast, but secretly dreams of beauty." Then beginning to whisper, Erik says,"Secretly, secretly."

Erik looks up at Christine, who also has tears in her eyes, with a tear rolling down his other cheek. Christine, seeing all the pain she caused him, hands the Erik his mask back. Gently, Erik takes the mask from Christine's hands and places back on his face. He stands up and helps Christine up.

"Come we must return. Those two fools who run my theater will be missing you," Erik says, taking Christine's arm and leading her to a catacomb entrance.

"Wait," Christine says, causing Erik to stop and look at Christine with his intense gold eyes. "It wasn't your face that scared me," Christine says, taking a deep breath,"it was your anger that scared me. I thought you were going to hurt me." Erik was taken back; everyone he has ever met was scared of his face. How was she not scared?

"How are you not scared of monsterous face," Erik says, touching his mask.

Christine walks closer to him and gently pulls the mask off, revealing his face again. Erik snaps his eyes shut, expecting to hear her run or scream. Only he doesn't, Erik feels a soft hand touch his cheek. Erik opens his eyes and sees Christine staring kindly at him. She leans in a places a kiss on his cheek. "I don't care what you look like on the outside," Christine says,"I only care about what's on the inside. You were there once my father died and trained my voice. You comforted me on days when I thought of my father. You were always there with me and cared for me."

By the time Christine was done talking, the two of them had tears pouring down their cheeks. Then, feeling brave, Christine raised her hands and placed them on each of Erik's cheeks before pulling him to her, placing her lips on his.

Erik froze. Was Christine, his angel, really kissing him? Erik has never felt so loved before; no one ever showed him this much love, not even his own mother. Relaxing a bit, Erik placed his hands on top of Christine's.

After a minute, Christine pulled away for air. She placed her forehead on Erik's before whispering,"I think I'm in love with you." Erik's heart pounded in his chest. "I think I'm in love with you too," Erik whispered back before placing another kiss on her lips.
