*Christine's POV*
I walk into the kitchen to start dinner just as Gustave starts crying. I sigh; I just got him to stop crying less than five minutes ago. "Erik," I call out as I pull some carrots out of the fridge.
"Yes, Christine," Erik says as he walks up behind me and wraps his arms around me.
"Can you please calm Gustave down for me while I start dinner," I ask him as I lean my head back against him.
"Of course," he says as he gives me a kiss on the cheek. He then removes his arms from around me and walks out to go get Gustave.
I walk back to the fridge and decide to make chicken and rice soup. So I grab all the ingredients I need from the fridge before walking to the pantry and grabbing rice. I grab a huge pot and begin to put everything in the pot. Once everything is in the pot, I realize that the crying has stopped. I put the pot on the stove and I put the heat just as I hear a piano note.
Deciding to investigate, I quietly walk towards the piano room. Once at the doorway, I peak my head around the corner and smile at the sight. I see Erik sitting on the piano bench holding baby Gustave so he is able to see the keys. I watch Erik press a key and look down at a wide eye Gustave. "This is middle C," I hear Erik say. "This is where you will put your right thumb when you play middle C position." I feel my smile get bigger at the thought of Gustave getting piano lessons from a musical genius like his father, or an angel of music to me.
I walk into the room and head towards the piano bench. Once at the bench, I sit down next to Erik, causing him to turn his head. "Are you giving our five month old son a piano lesson," I tease him.
"Well, this is the perfect age to teach him," he replies with a smile.
"How is this the best age to teach him," I ask him with a small laugh. "He hasn't even said his first word yet?"
"He will subconsciously remember the lessons I gave him," Erik says.
I laugh. "Erik, that made absolutely no sense," I say still laughing.
"He could you never know," Erik says with a smile, still trying to defend his point.
"Okay," I say as I put my hands up. "You could be right, even though that still makes no sense." I then get an idea.
"After dinner, will you teach me how to play piano," I ask him.
Erik looks at me a little surprised. "You want to learn piano," Erik asks. "Why?"
"Well, I have always wanted to learn, but I always loved singing more," I say. "And I think it will be really amazing if the whole family could play piano."
"Alright," Erik says with a smile. "After dinner, I will give you your first piano lesson."
*Time skip*
Once all the dinner dishes are washed and put away, I put Gustave to bed while Erik heads to the piano room to get everything ready for my lessons. The minute after I close Gustave's bedroom door, I hear Erik beginning to play a beautiful song on the piano. I walk downstairs and walk into the piano room while Erik is still playing the song. He continues playing while I sit down next to him on the bench. A minute later, the song ends and Erik looks at me.
"I hope you don't expect me to be able to play that song by the end of the first lesson," I joke.
Erik laughs, which is rare. "Not by the end of our first lesson," Erik says with a laugh as I playfully hit his arm.
"Okay," I say. "Where do I place my hands?"
"Give me your hands," Erik says as he stands up, walks behind me, and kneels behind me.
I lift my small hands up and Erik takes them in his long, thin ones. His arms rest on top of mine as he also places his hands on top of mine. "Your going to place your left hand here," he says as he places my left hand on the right keys. "And your right hand is going to be here."
Once my hands are in place, he still keeps his hands on top of mine. "Now," Erik continues. "This is middle C." He pushes down my right thumb on the cool white key beneath it.
I try to focus, but all I'm thinking of is how close Erik is to me. I don't care if we have been married for two years now, my heart still beats faster every time he gets close to me. I feel my right index finger being pushed down on the key which pulls me from my thoughts. I didn't hear what Erik said, but I was to nervous to ask him to repeat it. I lean my head back and it lands on his shoulder.
I then feel a soft kiss on my cheek before I feel more go down until they reach my neck. I try not to moan as he continues trailing kisses down my neck. I then turn my head so I can kiss him, when I suddenly hear Gustave start crying.
We both sigh in annoyance. "I'll get him," Erik says as he stands up. I then hear his steps walks out the room and go up the stairs. I might love Gustave, but sometimes I think he knows every moment me and Erik are about to kiss. Whenever we get close to kissing, he begins crying.
I hear Erik walk back downstairs and I see him holding Gustave. Gustave is still crying, but it's not as loud as before. "I can't get him to stop crying," Erik says.
"Okay," I say, standing up. "Let me see him."
I walk over to Erik as he hands me Gustave. I give to rock him in my arms, calming him a little. I then think of a lullaby and begin to softly sing it to him. The song I sing to Gustave was the same song my father sang to me when I was a baby, so the song is very special to me. As I sing the song, I see Gustave's eyes close. And by the time the song is over, his eyes are fully closed and one of his thumbs is in his mouth.
I smile at Gustave and I turn to look at Erik. "Let's put him to bed,: I whisper, not wanting to wake Gustav up. We both walk upstairs and walk into Gustave's room. I lay him gently in his bed as Erik grabs a blanket from the back of the rocking chair in the room. Once Gustave is laying down, Erik lays the blanket on top of him. We then both quietly walk out the room and Erik closes the door behind us.
I sigh with relief and realize how tired I am. "I'm ready to go to bed as well," I say to Erik, causing him to smile.
"Me too," he says.
We both then walk to our bedroom, which is next door to Gustave's. Once in our room , we both begin to change in our pajamas. As we're changing, I hear Erik say." Your voice sounds as good as ever."
I feel a blush rise in my cheeks. "Thanks, Erik," I say as I slip my night gown on. "I think I'll be ready to perform at Phantasma soon."
"Are you sure you want to sing now," Erik says as he climbs into bed.
"Erik, it's been five months since Gustave's birth," I say as I also climb into bed, "I have fully recovered."
"I just want to be safe," Erik says.
"I feel perfect," I say as I lean over and give Erik a kiss. "I love you."
"I love you too, Christine," Erik says.
I then turn and reach towards the small lamp we have one. I grab the knob and turn it and the light goes out. I then lie back down as I feel Erik wrap his arm around my waist. I feel myself smiling as I turn and lay my head on his chest.
"Goodnight, Erik," I say.
"Goodnight, Christine," Erik says back.
I then close my eyes and fall asleep almost instantly in my husband's arms.
