Chapter 22: Cake

Samuel arrived just as I slid the casserole dish into the oven. From where I stood, I could hear his footsteps entering the kitchen. Alam kong siya iyon since I am the only one left here sa cafe. I texted him na I will extend my stay here sa cafe. Sabi niya ay susunduin niya ako. Confident naman ako kay Seth kasi andoon siya kay Ate Sandra dahil na miss raw nila ang bata.

I'm just making a last minute cake order and I can't say no since she's been a loyal costumer ever since I still dont have a physical store.

It's already 9 pm and Im still baking the 3rd and last tier sa cake. It's a birthday party cake themed in Barney. Sa anak niya raw ito na mag cecelebrate ng 1st birthday that loves Barney so much. Currently Im done designing the first tier and now on the second one. Im just using butter cream para mabilis.

"Hello?"

"Hey baby" I answered "Hindi pa ako tapos eh. Pero malapit na, Give me 30, tomorrow ko na e dedesign ang 3rd tier" I deliberately kept my back to him as he walked in to find me putting some icing on the cake.

Dali siyang pumunta sa likod ko ang hugged me from behind while palming my hip with his free hand.

"Wow, smells amazing in here" he said hooking his chin over my shoulder.

"Thanks, I think because the costumer ordered a vanilla flavored cake," I leaned into him quickly just so I can feel him more but I quickly get back piping some designs, "Pero sa posisyong ito, parang mamaya pa ako matatapos. Kalas na"

I wiggled a little bit to loosen his grip but he hugged tighter.

"No" I heard him whisper and buried his face more on my neck.

"Baby, sige na please. Para naman matapos na ako agad." Finally, nakawala rin ako sa mga bisig niya at tumungo sa may rack ng mga donuts

"Oh heto, kain ka muna, bagong glazed yan. Gusto mo gawan kita ng kape?" I reached out for a plate.

"Nah, donut is enough, baby. Sige na, magtrabaho ka na. Behave na ako."

I patted his head when he's in front of me "Good. 30 minutes, I promise"

While designing the cake nagkwento naman kami sa kaniya kaniyang nangyari sa aming buhay. Kakauwi niya lang kahapon from Cebu sa isang project.

Napag-usapan rin namin na next week ay lilipat na kami ni Seth sa bahay niya. Pinapagawa pa kasi ang room ni Seth, Ang daming demand ng anak niya, at eto naman iniispoil masyado.

Naputol lang ang aming pagchichikahan ng narining kong tumunog ang oven. Tapos na rin akong magdecorate ng 2nd tier. I let it cool for awhile bago ko ito pinatong para mabuo ang cake.

"Tulongan mo kong ilagay to sa freezer please" Hindi naman umangal si Samuel and he pushed the trolley sa walk-in freezer namin.

I turned off half of the light sa kitchen hudyat ko ni Samuel na lalabas na kami.

"May flour ka pa eh" He got some wet wipes and wiped my face. But I have a silly idea in my head. With the flour thats stuck in my apron, I get some of it and also wiped it into his face. Nakuha ko naman ang reaction na gusto kong makuha sa kaniya kaya tumawa ako ng tumawa.

"Ah, so you wanna play this game ha. Humanda ka sa kin" His face formed a smile and got some flour on the flour sack. Para naman akong naalarma at tumakbo.

"No, awat na Samuel! HAHAHA" I kept on laughing while running away from him and he kept on throwing some flour on me.

Nacorner niya ako "Oh no, seems like you have nowhere to run now baby." and before I can run away, ibinuhos niya ang lahat ng flour sa aking ulo. I heard him laugh so hard.
