Don't Mess With Me

Chapter 14

Its been a week since James grabbed Maddie throat, and Maddie has been doing everything to stay away from him. She found out that she can ask F.R.I.D.A.Y. where James is and she has been using that to make sure they stay away. She has only ran into him three times. 

The first time was when she was heading to the garage with Morgan to take her to get ice cream and James pulled up next to her when she was about to leave. He knocked on the window but she just drove off, Morgan asked why they didn't talk and she told them it was a game and Morgan believed her. The second time was when she went to bring Tony some paperwork from Pepper and she walked into the lab to see Tony and Bruce checking James arm. She quickly dropped the paperwork off and headed out. James went running after her but she was gone once he got outside of the lab. Third, was when she was making cookies for the Morgan and the team. She was in the team kitchen since it was much bigger than hers. James walked in and sat at the island waiting for her to turn around so they could talk but she never turned around. He tried to speak to her a few times but every time she would turn around someone would come in and talk to Maddie. Once she was finished she immediately left, leaving him in the kitchen. 

"Nanny"

"Tony"

"We have a high end charity event we are going to this weekend and-"

"You need me to watch Morgan overnight. Got it"

"Nope, wrong kid" Maddie raises one eyebrow in confusion "We would like you to be there, Morgan is staying with Pepper parents this weekend. So there will be no babysitting"

"I would love to go! What is the dress code?"

"ELEGANT" he says putting his hands up and making a rainbow with a huge smile on his face "So long  dresses, no quincinera type dresses but a small amount of poof is good. You can also talk to Nat and Wanda they can help you"

"Great. Thanks"

"Of course kid. See you around" walking out of the kitchen heading back to the lab.

Finishing cleaning up the kitchen after cutting up from fruit for Morgan, Nat and Wanda walk in going straight to Maddie. "Just the ladies I was looking for."

"We were looking for you too, so I heard you've been invited to the charity event and you need a dress. So tomorrow we were going to go shopping you want to come?"

"Definitely, I do not know what to wear"

"We got you girl"

"Thanks. Fruit?"

"Duh" both of them reaching forwards taking some watermelon and pineapple. 

THE NEXT DAY

Nat and Wanda took Maddie  to the store they usually go to. They mentioned to Maddie ahead of time that the store is pricey and to not worry because Tony is paying for it. Maddie still felt bad but I guess she has to let loose every once and awhile. Walking into the store a worker welcomed them and brought them to a secluded area in the back.

The girls started walking around grabbing everything they liked. Nat grabbed 8 dresses and Wanda grabbed 7, Maddie on the other hand had grabbed dresses for them and not for her. "I found some dresses for you guys, I thought you might like these."

"Oh my god these are gorgeous!" They say in unison "Where are your dresses?"

"I haven't found any I like"

"Stay here I am going to go find you something" Wanda said quickly leaving before Maddie could say anything. Nat walked into her dressing room and started trying on her dresses. She first came out in a floor length solid white dress. Maddie shook her head immediately and pointing back to the dressing room. 'This isn't a wedding Nat' she said in her head.
