BILLIE AND CARL headed upstairs to Billies bedroom after Carl's head was stitched up. As they opened the door billie walked to her wardrobe to put on a different shirt, as she was still wearing Carl's.

Carl walked over to her bed to sit down, that's when he saw a blade sitting on her nightstand, with small spots of blood still stained on it.

Carl looked at it in shock, not knowing what do. He sat there staring at the blade. He was frozen there. He didn't know what to do.

"Hey Carl do you still have m-" Billie cut herself off. As she turned around from the wardrobe and seeing what was going on in front of her eyes.

The two stayed in silence for what felt like forever. She didn't want him to know what was going on. It would've crushed him, and, it did.

Eventually, Carl stood up, and his eyes scattered the floor. He looked up at Billie, she didn't have enough strength to look him in the eye. She played with her hands as she waited for what he would do. She expected the worst.

"Cmere." He softly spoke and walked over to billie with his arms out. They hugged, Carl putting his chin on top of Billies head. They rocked back and forward until Billie let go, not wanting to break down in his arms.

"Come on. We got some bombs to dig." Carl said and walked out of the room.

She was glad he didn't make a big deal from it and didn't make a scene.

She followed after him and they got all the stuff.

They first put up electrical fence wiring up, then started to dig up the dirt and placed land mines.

Suddenly, the gate opened.

"What are you doing?" A cornrowed Frank asked as he closed the gate.

"Upon our defences. I bought some land mines." Carl said and continued to dig.

"Did your collections today. Made a bunch of money. Want your cut?" Frank said as he reached for his wallet.

"I'm good." Carl spoke.

"Oh, I wish I had gotten into the business long ago. About tomorrow. I'm coming with you. We'll get up bright and early, do the pickup together, make the delivery, take our earnings and go celebrate a long hard day." Frank stated and laughed.

"I'm not doing it." Carl turned around and said to him.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Course you are." Frank said as he pulled his shoulder to look at him.

"No, I'm not. I'm going straight." Carl said with confidence.

"I couldn't be more disappointed in you, son." Frank said as he pointed his finger at him.

"Shut the fuck up Frank. No one wants you here. All you cause is anger and upset." Billie said as she stopped digging for a sec.

"Shiver me timber's." Frank said sarcastically. Billie rolled her eyes at the very ignorant man but didn't reply.

"Thanks for nothing!" Frank said and started to walk away up the stairs.

Carl scoffed and just continued digging.

"Don't listen to him." Billie said.

"I don't. He's Frank." Carl laughed.

The two decided that land mines probably wouldn't be the best idea and fixed up the garden. They hung out in Carl bed and slept a bit as well. That was until Carl stood up and told her he's making an escape route. He and Billie started nailing a piece of wood onto the window with a ladder, they joked around with the tools. Until, Fiona came home and started calling his name, after he didn't respond, she started calling Billie.

"Hey." Fiona said after she'd hurriedly opened the door.

"I don't want any shit. It's my house. I can do what I want." Carl attacked Fiona.

"Wasn't planning on giving you shit. Curious on what you're doing though." Fiona spoke.

"Escape route." He said coldly.

"Because?" Fiona asked.

"Never know when you might need it." He responded.

"You want help?" She asked.

"Nah, Billie's helpin' me." He spoke.

As Fiona walked closer to the two, she looked at Carl's forehead.

"Stitches?" She asked with a slight scoff.

"Yep." He replied.

"Anything you wanna tell me?" She asked.

"I'm just gonna, go to the bathroom." Billie whispered and left the room to not interrupt. She walked to the bathroom and left the door slightly open to hear the conversation.

"Nope." Carl replied.

"Promise I wont freak out." Fiona told him.

Carl sighed before starting to speak. "Nick's in jail." He told her.

"I wondered what happened to him." She replied.

"Killed a guy."

"Oh. Wow." Fiona said in shock.

"Got all twisted up, about respect. Couldn't let it go." Carl explained.

"Are you ok?" Fiona asked.

"Just can't stop seeing that dead body in my head." Carl spoke. The words broke Billies heart as she heard them. But, feeling the same way.

"You we're there when he killed the guy?" Fiona asked and stepped closer to Carl.

"After. Me and Billie saw it." He told her. "Figure I'll start seeing more people get dropped if I stay in the game. And it's my fault Billie saw that as well, wasn't her choice." Carl finished.

"I don't want me or her to see that." He said as he voice started breaking.

"Is it ok if I say I'm proud of you?" Fiona asked.

Carl nodded sadly and they hugged. After Carl pulled away. Fiona left. That's when Billie walked out of the bathroom and back into Carl's room.

"You ok?" She asked as he got back to making his 'escape route'.

"Yeah... you're not very good at pretending you're not listening." Carl smiled. Billie laughed in embarrassment.

The two eventually went to sleep in Carl's bed. Neither of them fell asleep for a while. After the very long day they cuddled up together and stayed silent. A comfortable silence, however.

"It's been a very emotional day." Billie said and laughed as she broke the silence.

Carl laughed at the statement. "Yeah." He said in a sleepy voice.

"Gnight." Billie said with a sigh.
