The weekend had gone by in the blink of an eye. Who would've said it's been 4 days since Mia and I moved in with the Accardi'? Longest days of my life. I don't think I had ever argued this much about money before.
These guys had no problem splashing it around by buying unnecessary things. Like getting me a new phone, laptop and whatnot. I already had a phone. I didn't see the need for a new one. I don't think I've ever owned this much electronics in my life. Scratch that, I know I've never owned this much electronics in my life before.
I woke up at the usual 4 am. It's beginning to be a pain in the ass. I really needed to do something about my sleep schedule. Today would be my first day of school here. And boy am I excited. Not.
School and Monday. They don't belong in the same sentence together. I dragged myself to the bathroom still half asleep. Going through my usual morning routine, I was soon done and decided to lounge around till 6.
I spent my time scrolling through Instagram. I may not find the need for new electronics but Instagram caught me hook, line and sinker. Not to mention Tiktok. It was hella addictive.
Noticing the time I gave my room one more, once over and left to go to the kitchen. On the way I rapped two knocks in succession on Mia's bedroom door to wake her up.
She had her alarm to wake her up. Me knocking on her door was just a kind gesture. If she overslept it was going to be her fault. She needed to be more independent. I'm simply teaching her responsibility.
I reached the kitchen and began going through everything in search of ingredients to make pancakes. Everytime it was the first day of school or Mia was nervous for a paper or had a dance recital, I made pancakes. It sort of stuck around and was kind of tradition at this point.
I set to work and by the time everyone was downstairs, breakfast was ready. I grabbed the smoothie I had made for myself and slid on the seat next to Mia. "Ready for your first day?" I asked her, noticing her fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.
She shrugged, "I guess so. I'll just have to see how it goes." I left the conversation alone after that, giving her the space she needed. Heck I needed to sort my own thoughts out. As much as I hated to admit it...I was nervous. Really nervous.
I spaced out for a while, mindlessly sipping from my smoothie. "Giovanna!" I shook my head and focuses on my surroundings. "Huh?" I said noticing everyone was looking at me. "Sorry I just spaced out." I explained. "Nicole was asking if you ready for school." Giovanni said.
I shrugged,"As ready as anyone could be. My stuff is packed so yeah." I knew that wasn't the answer they wanted, but that was all they were going to get.
"Ok, well just remember if you need anything go to your brothers." I gave a small nod in response. No thank you, I will figure it out on my own.
"You'll be riding with the twins and Armella to school. The boys have practise after school so you can either sit and watch one of their practices, or inform them where about in the school you will be. Eleonora will be going with Nicole and Antonio." I mumbled a small 'ok' to let him know that I understood.
Gerardo suddenly stood up from the table. "Be by the car in 5 minutes." He said and left the kitchen. Knew that nice attitude wouldn't last long. I quickly placed my glass in the sink and jogged upstairs to fetch my school bag.
Running back down I stopped in the kitchen again to wish Mia well for her day. "Goodluck, you gonna be fine. Don't worry about everyone and else and just be you." I said taking her hand in mine.
"Also call me if you need anything and don't hesitate to throw a punch if anyone tries any funny shit." I added in Spanish. She giggled at my use of language and slowly stopped shaking.
