I managed to avoid Ricardo's questions about my day. He seemed to get the hint and left me alone for the rest of the ride to the house. When we arrived I sprung out of the car and took a casual stroll to the front door waiting for one of the boys to open it.
Before Gerardo could even get within 5 feet of the door it was flung open by none other than Toni who launched himself at me followed by Mia. I stumbled back and quickly regained my balance placing an arm underneath Antonio to carry him and wrapping my other arm around Mia.
"Nina!" Toni exclaimed excitedly.
"I missed you." Mia let out softly burying her head into my side.
"Hey you two." I greeted both of them and began walking forward with both of them still attached to me.
I entered the house and made my way to the kitchen to make a snack for Mia like usual.
"Hey mum." Armella greeted Nicole from behind me.
"Hey sweetie, how was your day?" She asked Armella.
"Same old." Armella replied seating herself on a stool and immediately taking out her phone.
Nicole's gaze fell on me. "How'd you first day go Giovanna?" Noticing Toni in my arms she was about to say something but seemed to think the better of it and kept quiet.
"It was surprisingly ok." I replied and felt Mia pull back slightly.
"So you didn't punch anyone?" Mia asked looking sceptical.
I shook my head no in response.
"No fights?" She questioned further.
"Nope" I replied popping the 'p'
"Not even detention?"
Shit. She knew me too well.
"Maybe" I replied carelessly and shrugged."Is that a yes maybe or no maybe?"
"It's either a yes maybe or a no maybe."
"Yes," she said slowly as if she was taking to a 3 year old. "I'm asking you which maybe it is."
"It's maybe you'll know or maybe you won't." I grinned at the frustrated expression on her face.
"Why can't you just give a normal answer?" She asked.
"Because normal is boring." I quoted her words now using it against her.
"I shouldn't have said that." She grumbled and I knew she'd leave the topic alone knowing I wasn't going to answer. Sure I would've told her, if we weren't living with other people who have expectations. The again it might blow up in my face later. But I'd rather take that.
"So what do you want me to make for you?" I asked as I shrugged of my backpack and left it by her feet.
"Ooh can you make your chocolate milkshake please? You haven't made it in forever." She said dramatically.
"You say forever like it's been 10 years." I stated rolling my eyes playfully. "Toni, would you also like chocolate milkshake?" I asked turning to him.
Before he could reply Mia butted in. "Say yes, her milkshake is the best. No one can beat her milkshake making skills." I chuckled at that and Toni exclaimed excitedly,"yes yes yes "
"Sure thing little one. Two chocolate milkshakes coming up."
With that I set to work trying to finish up quickly so that I could bring the two kids behind me to a standstill.
"Hey Giovanna?" Ricardo called me and I looked up from my work to turn to him.
"Yeah?"
"Could you make a milkshake for me too?" He asked seeming slightly nervous about his question.
