The chicken crowed loudly. During ancient Africa, this indicates 'the dawn of day'.My eyes opened slowly, I couldn't catch my sleep anymore since the chicken had disrupted it.
I groaned so bad, every time I opened my eyes and see my family, it reminded me of everything. Some nights, I find it hard to sleep but I force myself to.
I wish I was far away from them, every single one of them but wishes are mythical, aren't they?
Kyle was still sleeping, snoring for that matter. It's already school day and I was happy. At least I get to take a break from this hell hole.
"Kenzie! Get up!" Mom yelled from her room. Her room wasn't far from ours and you could hear every single conversation from their room.
"I'm already up mom," I yelled back tiredly. How I hated waking up early and especially school days but I was still grateful, this is my escape plan.
"Wake your brother up too, you guys need to go to school," mom said again.
I hate waking up Kyle, I hate doing everything in this house. He believes we're equal, so he should be able to wake himself up and not me.
"Get up!" I kicked him harder. He groaned in pains right away.
"You better wake up and tend to yourself, I'm going to the bathroom," I added.
Praise the lord we weren't in the same school and praise the lord I wouldn't have to see any of them.
I left him lying there and walked into the bathroom. I don't care when he reaches to school, that's non of my many business.
In Liberia not many of us have showers. If it was to scale this, it'll be 98 over 100.
Most of us can't even afford daily meals a day less talk of showers or bathrooms. Most houses have outside bathrooms especially the community we lived in but we were lucky we had ours inside.
We took our baths with buckets and cups and we're proud and satisfied.
Certainly not all of us though.I want to be rich, famous and have nice life and nice things.
