Chapter 8 (NY We Go)

Hailey is sat at her desk like any other day, but feeling rather angry due to a case not going to plan, she knows her boss isn't going to be happy but she felt like it was the right choice. She was interrupted not long after by Hank Voight, he called her into his office well he shouted her in to his office at least.

Everyone in the room stopped what they were doing and looked as Hailey got up and entered the office, they weren't exactly sure what was being said but they knew it wasn't good news when they heard Hailey start yelling at Sargent Voight. It is soon followed by Hank yelling at her back.

After about 5 minutes Hailey then comes storming out the office and let's the door slam in anger, Jay tries to stop her to see what's wrong but she ignores him and just goes straight downstairs in a temper. She walks outside and goes to her car, where she sits there trying to get her head around what she had just been told.

She is there for about 10 minutes until Jay appears at the side of the car by the window, he opens the door and sits in the front with Hailey "What's wrong?" he asks. The angry Detective looks back at him, sighs and then answers "I've gotta go to Newyork and work with the FBI as a loan out officer".

Jay looks asks fairly shocked "what? But why?", Hailey frowns and answers "apparently I've crossed too many lines". Jay sighs and replies back trying to reasurre her "you did what you had to do" he then asks "but what are you going to do about Lucie?", Hailey doesn't speak for a moment.

"Well she has gotta come with me, I ain't exactly got anyone that could look out for her, and I somehow doubt it would work anyway, she doesn't like to be separated from me" she admits. Jay sighs and replies "I wish I could help you", Hailey smiles back at him and thanks him "thanks Jay, but it's alright, I'll be fine, I have Lucie".

Jay then makes a valid point "you have each other", Hailey nods her head and the two hug each other, the woman detective no longer feels as angry, thanks to her partner. Jay was good at cheering her up, she really did love him, but she was too afraid to open up so she kept her mouth shut.

After school :

Hailey stands there on the outside of her car waiting for her little girl, 5 minutes or so later and the girl comes walking out and her frown turns into a huge smile when she sees Hailey standing there. She runs over to her and Hailey then picks her up and the two share a nice moment together as they hug.

While in the car and driving Hailey says out of the blue "so, Lucie, we have to go to Newyork tomorrow morning, I have to work there for a bit". The young girl then asks confused "why", Hailey then answers the girl "mommy may be in a bit of trouble, but for good reason". Lucie smiles and replies "it's okay mommy, I still with you so me good".

Hailey smiles and replies back to the girl in a motherly tone "sweetie, I love you so much", the young girl smiles and replies back "love you too mommy". When the two get to the apartment, Hailey helps get Lucie out of the booster seat and kisses her on the forehead, then the two walk in. The little girl runs straight to the kitchen.

Hailey chuckles as she sees the girl run into the kitchen "Hungry?" she asks, Lucie nods her head, Hailey smiles and asks "well since this is our last night in Chicago until we come back that is, how about we get pizza?" The young girl smiles widely and nods her head excitedly but then asks "can Jay come over, pllleeease". Hailey smiles and nods her head.She gets her phone out and clicks on Jay's contact number.

Hailey - "hey partner"

Jay - "hey, what's up?"

Hailey - "well, we are getting pizza since its our last night and all, Lucie asked if you could come over"

Jay - "I'll be right over, can't turn down pizza now can I?, ill get them"

Hailey and Jay - *laughs*

Hailey - "see you in a bit then"

Hailey then gets of the phone and looks at her daughter who looks at her with a huge grin "Jay's coming" Hailey says, which makes the girl even more happier, she starts jumping up and down on the spot. Hailey laughs and jokes "calm down tigger", Lucie starts giggling too.

10 minutes later

KNOCK KNOCK

"Jay's here" the young girl calls out in excitement and then goes running to the door to open it but is unable to due to the lock and being to short to reach it. Hailey then looks at the girl and sternly says "what did I say about answering the door?", Lucie frowns and answers "not to answer it, but I can't reach anyway mommy".

Hailey laughs and opens the door but before the girl gets the chance to say anything to Jay she sternly says "doesn't matter, you know better than to go near the door without mommy". Jay laughs and asks in a joking Manor "ooh, someone in trouble is they", Lucie nods her head and answers "mommy says I can't answer the door, so mommy mad because I tried to".

Jay laughs and then the three all go to the lounge and sit on the couch, then they all start to stuff there face with pizza and watch a frozen which Lucie had practically begged to watch,but the two adults found it hilarious that she was the first to fall asleep. Hailey then Jokes "how many more times does the girl have to watch this, that song is starting to P me off big time".

Jay chuckles and jokes back "Hails, just let it go", she playfully punches his arm back in a reply which makes them both laugh. The two get very close to each other and almost look like they were gonna kiss but Hailey stops and gets up and changes the subject "we should get Lucie in bed, and then I have to pack our bags".
