// hello, enjoy reading! //

The second we arrive at the headquarters, Raph acted like nothing happened. After another round of swapped teams, the exhaustion finally kicks in, and we settle inside the car.

The arrangements were once again switched. We decided that all the girls would be on Brett's car, and the boys would be on Raph's.

That's what bring us to the present. I sat shotgun with Kaylie on the back and Serene on the driver's seat. Eddy peeks inside through the backseat window.

"A'ight, the boys and I are gonna get going. You guys can go to the mall or something, or whatever. Do what you want," he laughs and runs back to Raphael's car. Brett was sitting on the backseat with in front. He waves at me, and I wave back.

Serene started the car and we decided that we'd eat first. The boys' car turned the opposite direction. The drive to the mall was pretty fun.

Kaylie sighs as she spread out her arms at the back. "It's nice having a girls' fun day without annoying boys following you."

Serene and I laugh.

"I totally agree," Serene chuckles as she drove. I nod, because technically I agree too. It's nice to have a little trip to the mall with the best girls in the world.

"Where are they going, though?" Kaylie thought out loud.

I shrug even though I do know where they're going.

"Dette Dette."

She calls. Serene focused on the road as Kaylie conversed with me.

"You've been awfully quiet today. Did something happen?" She says suspiciously. My heart beat raced, I could almost hear it.

"Nope," I say and offered her a tight lipped smile.

She squints her eyes at me. "Hmm."

I shrug again with a smile.

"Claudette, I've noticed something about you."

Serene says. I get nervous again. My hands were cold and sweaty. I hum in response as I waited for her to continue. I was scared that if I talked, my voice would come out shakily.

"You and Brett seem close now, huh?"

She wiggles her eyebrows at me. A smile that meant something sat on her lips, taunting me. Kaylie's eyes widen and her brows flew up the sky. "They are?"

Serene looks at her through the mirror, her loose blonde hair getting caught in the wind.

"Blind girl! Haven't you noticed the way they spend time together, alone too? I often catch the two of them have moments sometimes!"

She giggled like a high school girl.

I felt relieved that they didn't notice anything about what the boys were planning. But still, this conversation doesn't make it any better. This is about to get real uncomofortable.

I sigh. "Y'all need to stop making everything an issue. We're just friends, guys."

I reply with a loud laugh. They both roll their eyes at me.

"No way that's just friendship, and absolutely no freaking way, that you think, or even thought about just a second of your life that you like Brett!" Kaylie reacts as she moved her hands in the air for exaggeration.

Serene nods in agreement, excitement coating her face. I turn my head to the window and hide a timid smile.

Brett. Good, silent Brett.
