I watched as the crowd's cheering died down. With a smile on my face, I came back and sat with the rest of them. Serene and Raph were hushing amongst themselves as colors flew in the sky.  Loud sparks erupted. As I sat behind the new couple, the boy beside me scooched closer to me. I look beside him and see him trying to avoid the petite blonde lady that was pushing herself against him. Her eyes sparkled at him in a way that expressed love.

I pulled him next to me. Luna spared a glance at me and rolled her eyes. I was taken aback. Shouldn't I be the one rolling my eyes? Shouldn't I be the one acting all bitchy? Isn't she the one pressing herself all up against my boyfriend?

So this was what happened. I ended up sitting between Luna and Brett. And I don't think she's very happy about it.

Watching the fireworks brought back memories from my childhood. My mom and I used to go to Fireworks Display. That, until I grew up and my mom had to work two jobs in order to support the both of us. Which explains why she and I haven't been spending time together. But I promised myself that when she's out of the hospital, I'd give her the best time of her life. Maybe take Chris, too.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Brett asked as he watched the skies. The loud sparkles were still going on. I stared at him in the corner of my eye as I hummed in response, when suddenly I had to take my eyes off him.

A cellphone rang beside me. I turned my head and looked at Luna, who looked very distressed. She talks to the other person on the phone. Her lips mumbled something I couldn't quite catch before she stood up. Some guys behind us complained as she did. She ignored them as she held Brett's shoulder. The gesture attracted our other friends' eyes. Kaylie turned towards us while Serene kept her cool. I didn't turn back, but I stayed on guard in case she tries to do anything. I could see Brett look back at her, wondering what she wants.

"Uh, you guys, I have an emergency. It's my dad, he's–"

She stops as she takes in a deep breath. I turned towards them and saw the tears gathering at the corner of her eyes.

"A maid called me. He's– please, I can't lose him, I–"

My heart was immediately embraced with guilt. I feel bad for her. I didn't know she has an emergency, and I assumed immediately thet it was just one of her ways to get to Brett. I know how it feels. All the hatred I had for Luna vanished. I know she needs someone to hold onto at this time. Something probably happened to her dad. I'm very familiar with the ache that one would feel when they receive news about their loved ones. Especially about parents.

"I think he got into an accident. I was wondering if Brett could drive me?" She whispered in a low voice.

My eyes became blurry as my head spun the moment she mumbled those words. Brett's eyes flew to me in a second. Mine went to Luna. She was now full on sobbing. I mean, I don't have a problem with that. She's having an emergency. But I don't think Brett will be any help to her. Not that I don't think he's a bad friend, but because he's a quiet boy. And it's Luna we're talking about here. She's crazy about him. If he gets inside a car with her, he probably wouldn't speak and offer no comfort to the girl. The best thing she needs right now is a friend who will not hesitate to talk to her about it.

I sighed.

"I'm gonna come with you," I respond instead. Her teary eyes flickered to me. A trace of surprise graced her pretty face.
