"Then do you want to come have dinner with me?"
Sunghoon stopped walking.
"My mom booked me a table at this restaurant. It is supposed to be for me and my partner but Jungwon didn't come so you can come right?"
"Er...uh.." Sunghoon didn't know how to respond.
"Come! Let's go! They sell one of the best steaks!"
"Ok!" Sunghoon said as he couldn't control his protein addiction.
They sat down at one of the tables. It was definitely weird to see two students in uniforms eating steaks at a fancy restaurant, but luckily not many people were there. So, the pair didn't get embarassed as much.
The food soon came after they sat down. Jihyo then spoke up after the boy tasted the meat.
"So, how is it?"
"It's so good it's making me so happy! Thank you so much Jihyo" Sunghoon said with genuine happiness while chewing.
"Oh really, I'm glad you like it. By the way, could you please tell me what Jungwon is like? Why doesn't he want to talk to me? Did I do something to him?" Jihyo said.
She could not just sit still and be fine with the fact that someone disliked her. The chance that she made someone upset made her feel anxious. After all, her goal in life was to make people happy.
Flashback
"Jihyo!! JIJIJIJIJIHYOOOO! COME ON OVER FAST THE SUNSET IS PERFECT WE HAVE TO TAKE THE PICTURE RIGHT NOWWW!!!" a boy screamed.
"Yeah yeah I'm coming I just can't run as fast as you" the girl said.
"THE TIMER IS SET FOR THE CAMERA FAST FAST EIGHT...SEVEN...SIX...FIVE... FOUR...THREE...TWO ...ONE!"
The two students took their last picture as middle schoolers.
It was the winter before high school. One of them felt as if they could not be any happier, the other didn't exactly feel the same.
Jihyo snapped back to reality when Sunghoon responded to her after he was done chewing.
"Jungwon? He doesn't have anything against you. He's just like that"
"Why..why does everyone say that? Jungwon is just like that. No human is just like that. There's a reason for everything."
"Well even if there is, I don't know anything. He has just six friends, me, Heeseung, Jake, Jay, Ni-ki and Sunoo. That's it. And I don't think he wants to make more friends. He seems to have something against friends."
"Wow..how complicated. Oh and Sunoo is really friends with you people?"
"Yeah we've hung out many times and we text each other a lot" Sunghoon said as he chewed his last piece of steak.
"Oh so he was not lying"
"But what about you? Tell me about yourself." Sunghoon said feeling closer to the girl after he finished the steak he was treated to. It seemed as though steak was a shortcut to his heart. He giggled at this thought.
"Me? My name is Kang Jihyo. Umm...I have an elder sister... I have lots of friends but my best friends are Sunoo and Yujin from our class ..I'm going to turn eighteen in December."
"Oh there's only four months left then!"
"What about you?" Jihyo asked this time.
"Hmm... I'm handsome."
"That's it?" Jihyo laughed.
"Ok then, I'm Park Sunghoon. I have a younger sister..I was a figure skater before but I stopped last year since my parents want me to concentrate on my studies since I entered high school."
"Wow..a figure skater?" Jihyo said in awe
"Yeah..since you treated me to such a good meal, I'll show you a spin"
"What? Right now? Here?" The girl said as she stared at the boy standing up from his seat.
Sunghoon didn't know if he was drunk on happiness because of the steak, but he didn't feel any embarrassment as he stood up and did a whole triple axel.
The other people in the restaurant looked at him half surprised half impressed and some looked at him with weird faces, but he didn't feel ashamed at all because Jihyo soon started clapping and shouting "Wasn't that amazing everyone?!!". The girl made everyone in the restaurant clap.
The two then left the restaurant and were on their way home.
"Ah, I'm so full I can't walk. Thanks man you're one of my best friends now" Sunghoon joked.
"No problem bro" Jihyo replied with a hand on his shoulder.
The two laughed as they walked back home. They shared jokes and their numbers. They had gotten much closer than before. They clicked right there. It was as if they were meant to be friends.

"Oh I forgot how'd it go with Jungwon on Friday?" Sunoo asked as he came to Jihyo's seat with Yujin
Jihyo was sleeping with her head on her desk. She had been even more late that monday morning since she had been playing games with her brand new bestfriend, Sunghoon.
Yujin hit Jihyo's head a little. "Knock knock is Jihyo here?"
The sleepy girl woke up with a groan.
"So I was asking how'd it go with Jungwon"
"He didn't show up"
"What? I am really going to beat his ass now. Come on Sunoo! We have to teach this bastard a lesson" Yujin said pulling her sleeves up"
"Wait wait wait he didn't show up?" Sunoo asked.
"Yeah" Jihyo replied lazily.
Yujin was already on her way to Jungwon's desk. "Yah Yang Jungown!" she shouted at the boy.
Jungwon took out his earbuds and left the classroom.
"Yang Jungwoooon!" Yujin was about to chase Jungwon but Sunoo was quick to stop her.
"Don't do it" He said.
"Yeah I gave up also. I tried to talk to him this morning. No use, he just ran away" Jihyo said trying to calm Yujin.
"He sent Sunghoon to come instead. I ate dinner with him and became friends. I was late today because I was playing online games with him" Jihyo said as if it was so normal to become friends with a stranger in one day.
The other two best friends were taken aback.
"So that's why he's sleepy today" Sunoo said nodding.
"Now what about you? How are you going to finish the presentation if Sunghoon keeps coming instead of Jungwon?" Yujin asked in a worried tone.
"I don't know. Anyways let's go eat" Jihyo said as she put her arms around her best friends.
'Jungwon would soon come around right?' Jihyo thought to herself.
