"Am I supposed to mix it like this?" Jungwon asked Jihyo as he held the spoon in an awkward way.

Jihyo laughed while taking the bowl and spoon from him. She then started mixing the batter.

"Have you done this before?"

"I've tried but it always turns out horrible. So I let my sister do it." Jihyo said as she added the chocolate chips in.

"You have a sister?" Jungwon asked.

"Yeah she's four years older than me. What about you?"

"I have a sister who's six years older than me."

"Ohhh do you get along well with her?"

"We get along fine I guess, we don't bicker a lot because we have a very big age gap. What about you and your sister?"

"Us? We bicker over everything. But it's nothing serious of course" Jihyo smiled remembering her sister.

"I miss Beomgyu." Jungwon suddenly said.

"I miss him too." Jihyo replied.

There was a silence.

"What do we do with this dough now?"

"We have to put it in the fridge for 30 minutes."

Jungwon put the dough in the fridge then started cleaning up. Jihyo also helped him. By the time they were done, it had already been 30 minutes so they shaped the dough into small balls and put them in the oven.

Jungwon sat down on a chair. "So what do you want to do now?"

"I don't know" Jihyo said wiping her hands on a cloth. "Did you get any chocolates today?" Jihyo asked.

"I got some." Jungwon said. "Do you want?"

"Oh no no" Jihyo said shaking her hands.

Jungwon laughed. "What about you?"

"I got some also." Jihyo said.
"By the way, are we friends now?" She asked.

"Of course we are!" Jungwon said.

"Huh? But I thought you didn't want to make any friends."

"I changed my mind." Jungwon smiled. "You're my first friend in one full year."

"I'm glad.." Jihyo smiled back.

TING! The cookies were done baking.

Jungwon then took them out but his finger got burnt.

"Ouch!"

"Are you ok?" Jihyo asked coming to him. She then took him by the hand to the sink and turned the tap on. "You should always run cold water on a small burn."

"Ohhh.." Jungwon said but then realised he was much closer to the girl than he thought. He tried to hold his breath.

"I think this is enough. Do you have any burn ointment?" Jihyo said as she turned the tap off.

"I think it's in that cupboard."

Jihyo then opened it and took out an ointment. She blew on his finger and applied it gently.

Jungwon was just trying to hold his breath and now his dimples were showing.

"Done!" Jihyo said and looked up to make eye contact with Jungwon. "Oh! You have dimples too." Jihyo said and quickly turned her face away.

"Yeah" Jungwon laughed.

"I think the cookies have cooled now." Jihyo said and put them on a plate.

Jungwon sat down on a chair and took one cookie. He handed it to Jihyo.

Jihyo was caught off guard but accepted it and took a bite.

It was horrible. "Wow! It tastes so good!" Jihyo said trying to sound happy.

"Really?" Jungwon took one cookie and had a bite. He took another bite and chewed. The boy looked up to see Jihyo smiling.

He couldn't help but laugh. "You must have a unique taste. It tastes so bad."

"Well I do have unique taste but I agree..these cookies are not..too tasty." Jihyo said taking another bite. "But it's still edible so.."

Jungwon then ran up to his room and got the chocolates and cookies he had received in school some hours ago.

He spread them on the table. "Here, let's eat these instead."

"Are you sure? Won't the people who gave them to you feel bad?"

"I wasn't going to be able to finish all of them anyway.  So it's fine." Jungwon said as he opened a chocolate bar.

"Then I'll take this" Jihyo said as she took a green tea kit kat and started eating it.

"Mint choco and now green tea?"

"What's your problem?" Jihyo said and took a big bite of the kit kat.

Jungwon laughed.
"But is it true that you treated Sunghoon to steak?"

"Yes it is"

"Why?"

"Because my partner didn't want to come to the library to discuss the presentation with me."

"Oh.."

"What made you change your mind? I mean like why did you agree to finally stop ignoring me?" Jihyo said finishing her kit kat.

"Well I guess I realised there was no other way for us to get the presentation done if I kept ignoring you. And I didn't want to go to the library because I don't think I'm ready yet..."

"Ready for what? Oh.... Then....let me help you!"

"Help me with what?"

"I'll help you trust people again and stop ignoring everybody!"

"Hmm....I don't know"

"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I won't help you with this later."

"Ok. I guess I've been this way for too long."

"You already took your first step. You made a new friend, me!"

"Thanks"

"Anyways I have to get going now, it's already 7" Jihyo said as she got up and walked to the door.

"Jihyo! You better keep your words. I'm putting my trust on you. Help me, ok?"

"Of course, but I'm sorry the cookies didn't turn out that well. I don't think I helped at all" Jihyo laughed.

"No worries I would've burnt the house if you weren't there."

"Oh but where are your parents?"

"My mom's accompanying my dad on a business trip. I was feeling lonely, thanks for keeping me company."

"I had fun too. Ok then, bye!"

Jungwon waved at the girl feeling sad that he was going to be all alone. He ran up to his room and texted her.

Jihyo was walking alone in a quiet street. She also felt a little sad walking away from the house but didn't know why. 'Probably because his house smells like cookies now' Jihyo said to herself and giggled.
