Nineteen

The exams came and Jihyo studied day and night. Even though it seemed as though she would be an easy going person, she was not easy going when it came to studies.

Her parents gave her allowance according to her results. Since, she bought all her snacks with her allowance, there was absolutely no way she wanted her allowance to be deducted.

It was the middle of the exam week. Jihyo had been studying non stop and was stuck in her room night and day.

So, her mother came into her room and said, "Take a break Jihyo."

"No I can't, tomorrow is Physics and you know I'm bad at it."

"You'll become worse at it if you keep stressing out like this. Go take a walk in the neighborhood and bring back spring onions, a cabbage, potatoes and tomatoes from the mart."

"Please tell Jimin to go, I can't."

Her mom didn't listen and threw the shopping bags at her. "Your sister's busy applying for a college. Go and get the vegetables otherwise I'm deducting 10% of your allowance."

"Mom" Jihyo whined. "But why is Jimin applying for another college? Hasn't she already been in her current college for a year now?"

"Yeah but the one she's applying to is a better one and she might get in. Now go." Jihyo's mother said pushing her out of the room.

Jihyo then walked out of the house tired because she hadn't slept properly for a long time. She got the vegetables as fast as she could but took too much since she was in a hurry.

"Did I buy too much? Who cares, buying more is better than buying less" she talked to herself.

She then tried to run home but couldn't, because she had no energy and the vegetables were too heavy. While walking through the street with groans, she suddenly felt the weight on her hand get lesser.

"Huh?" She turned back to see Jungwon helping her carry one of the bags.

"Let me help you" He said taking one of the bags.

"Thanks. Don't run away with it" she said while patting his head.

"Ok" he laughed "How are exams going for you?"

"They're going fine but I'm nervous for the last two, Physics and Chemistry."

"Don't worry you'll do well." He said while poking her dimple as she smiled.

"Are your exams going well?" Jihyo asked.

"They're going ok but I just want them to finish as soon as possible"

"Same. Well, we're here. Thanks for helping me." She said and then pulled out a small chocolate bar from her pocket. "Here you go, you can have this because you helped me."

"Thanks" he smiled at her and started walking away, but turned back and asked, "Aren't you going to compliment me?"

Jihyo stayed silent for a second and then shouted, "Your dimples are really pretty!!!"

She ran back to her house but turned back again to shout, "But not as pretty as mine!"

Jungwon laughed and watched Jihyo run into her house.

"Why didn't you bring him in?" Jihyo's mother asked as she ran into the house and threw the vegetables on the kitchen table.

 Jihyo mumbled inaudible words and ran into her room.

Her mother then looked at Jihyo's sister and the two laughed together.

The final day of exams came and it was Chemistry. Jihyo was very nervous that morning but got overjoyed after finishing her exam.

She ran out of the classroom to meet her friends in the school garden. Once she saw Jungwon, she took his hand and started spinning around with him.

"Thank you soooo much" she said.

"Why? What happened?"

"I did well in my chemistry exam because of you, of course."

"But it's you who worked hard. You did good!" He said poking the girl's dimple.

"Guys, want to come and hang out at my place?" Jay asked.

Everyone agreed but Sunghoon spoke up while pulling Jihyo away. "We have to go somewhere."

"Where?" Jihyo asked.

Sunghoon just pointed to his face and covered his eyes.

"Ohhhhhh" Jihyo said finally realising. "I guess I can't come then, Jay. Maybe next time."

"What do those hand signs mean?" Ni-ki asked.

"Something." Sunghoon said while walking away pulling the girl as she acted as if a tear was dropping from her eye.

"That's very suspicious." Sunoo said.

"Yes it is." Yujin agreed with him.

"Where do you think they're going?" Jungwon asked.

"You're curious?" Yujin asked.

Jungwon kept quiet but then said, "Nope. Let's goo!!" He put his arms around Heeseung and Jay.

"Are you nervous?" Sunghoon asked the girl as the two sat outside the doctor's room.

"A little...But not really. You look more nervous than me." Jihyo laughed.

"If you're not nervous then I shouldn't be either." Sunghoon said while standing up to go inside the room with Jihyo.

The doctor examined Jihyo and diagnosed her with night blindness. Thankfully, it was just that. He gave her some medicines and let her go.

"Well that was simpler than I expected." She said as they walked out of the hospital gates.

"You better take the medicines properly." Sunghoon said while putting his arm around the girl's shoulder.

"Yeah I will." She said while putting her arm around his shoulder. "Thanks for worrying bro."

"It's because I care about you man." Sunghoon said putting a strand of her hair behind her ear with his free hand.

They were walking that way for some time but they didn't realize their friends were behind them until Sunghoon turned back to make eye contact with Jungwon.

"What are you guys doing?" Sunghoon asked as Jihyo also turned back to see everyone giggling.

"We should be the ones to ask the two of you that question." Sunoo said while folding his arms.

"We went to the-" Sunghoon was talking but Jihyo soon cut him off "We did nothing, just roamed around." She pinched his thumb. No one noticed this except Yujin. She raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.

"Jay will be so hurt to hear that you 'just roamed around' instead of coming to his house." Ni-ki said.

"Eh I'll make it up to him soon." Jihyo said and then patted Jungwon's head. "Ok byeee" She said while running away.

"What was that about?" Jake asked Jungwon but the boy just looked at Sunghoon. Sunghoon turned away from him. "I'll get going also. Bye" He said and walked away.

Jungwon didn't know what he was feeling as he saw Sunghoon run up to Jihyo and walk home with her.
