Eight

One year later
-Present-

Jihyo was nervous as she pressed the doorbell of Jungwon's house.

"Oh you're here." Jungwon said as he opened the door for her.

Jihyo followed Jungwon to his room as awkward as she could have ever been. Normally, she wouldn't feel anything and just be herself, but there was this weird feeling in her stomach making her as stiff as possible as she sat down around the small table from the week before.

She then took her books out very slowly as if she would be put in jail if she made any noise.

Jungwon noticed her being awkward but couldn't say anything to lighten up the mood because he was also feeling awkward himself.

"So, do you want anything to drink?"

"No it's ok, I stopped by a cafe before I came"

"Oh ok"

The mood became awkward again. Jihyo cursed herself for turning him down so quickly.

Jungwon then took the initiative to start discussing about the presentation as he felt guilty for delaying it for so many weeks.

They worked on the presentation for a good three hours until Jungwon spoke up about something else, something that had been in his mind since last week.

"So...how did you know Beomgyu?" He asked.

"He was my neighbour, we used to chat everyday after school for a few minutes since middle school I think yeah and.."

"And?"

"He was my first crush"

"Oh..it must have been hard for you.."

"Yeah but he left me a letter where he said he didn't like me that way. So, I also accepted his feelings that way and now I don't like him like that anymore." Jihyo said typing away. "But what about you? I knew you were his best friend but what else?"

"We used to be in the taekwondo team together."

"I see"

"He used to always tease me and call me cute, and that's what he wrote in his letter he left for me"

"He left a letter for you too?"

"Yeah"

"And here I was feeling special." Jihyo laughed as she typed.

"I'm sorry"

"For what?" Jihyo looked up to make direct eye contact with Jungwon but quickly looked back at the laptop.

"I'm sorry for avoiding you for so long."

"It's fine." Jihyo said with a laugh. "Does this look fine?" 

Jungwon looked through the presentation as Jihyo started packing up.

"Yeah it's good. We'll probably get good marks for this"

"Yay! Anyways it was good to work with" Jihyo said as she put her hand forward to shake his hand. "You better not run away now again"

"No I won't." Jungwon chuckled as he shook her hand.

"I'll get going now. Bye" Jihyo said as she took her hand back.

"Bye" Jungwon said as the girl walked out the door.

He then jumped on his bed. "Get a hold of yourself, Jungwon. I thought you promised yourself not to trust anyone else anymore." He said to himself as he slowly opened his phone and unblocked Jihyo. 

Jihyo suddenly heard a ding as she was walking. She opened her phone to see that Jungwon had finally unblocked her. She skipped home with a sense of accomplishment.

"Kang Jihyo is early today?!" Sunoo exclaimed as he saw Jihyo chatting away with Yujin on Monday morning.

"Get used to it. Yujin's not yours anymore in the morning. MWAHAHAHAHA"

"Well someone is in a good mood." Sunoo said as he put his bag on his chair.

"I finally got unblocked by Jungwon!" Jihyo said as she clapped.

"And why exactly are you happy?" Yujin asked while giving Sunoo weird faces like before.

"The word blocked was eating me up from the inside"

"Are you sure" Sunoo said as he started smiling.

"Yes, of course. Oh and we also finished our project!"

"About time, there's just two weeks left until we have to present them"

"Oh we have to present them right. I completely forgot. What about you guys? Are you done with yours?"

"Us? We finished waaaay before we're starting to practice talking now" Sunoo said sassily.

"Wow. Good for you" Jihyo said with no enthusiasm.

"You should be happy for your friend!"

"Wow. I'm so happy." She said again with lesser enthusiasm.

The three laughed.

No matter how many times Jihyo came to Jungwon's house she could not get used to feeling so nervous while pressing their doorbell.

"Come on in" Jungwon said as he opened the door for her.

The two of them sat down around the small round table in his room.

"So we'll have to start practicing presenting. Do you want to go first or should I?" Jihyo asked not looking at his eyes.

"It's up to you" he said.

"I want to go first and get it over quickly then" Jihyo said as she did a quick clap.

"I thought you liked talking" Jungwon laughed.

"Of course, but not all this type of talking."

"Okok you go first"

Jihyo then started presenting, she could not make eye contact with the boy at all. Jungwon soon finished presenting also.

"It sounds good. We're gonna get great marks!" Jihyo said as she put her hand forward for a high five

Jungwon high fived her and said. "Lechugoo!!"

"Huh? What was that?" Jihyo said as she chuckled.

Jungwon got flustered, "Uh..."

"Anyways I'm going now"

"Wait!"
