Twenty Five

"I'm sorry I don't feel the same way."

The words rang in Jungwon's ears for some time until a rush of embarassment and disappointment hit him.

He couldn't look at Jihyo. So, running away seemed like the best solution and that was what he did. He left her in that storage room.

Jihyo stood there for sometime after he left. Mainly because she couldn't see anything and she was scared she would bump into something and fall but the other reason was because she was shocked by what had happened. 'Sunghoon....likes me?' she thought to herself.

The lights turned on again some minutes later and she ran out of the room with the necklace.

"Jihyo where were you?" Yujin said as she approached the girl.

"I was doing...stuff"

"Anyways, come on the party is almost over and we haven't eaten all the desserts!" Yujin said pulling the girl.

"Wait wait let me keep this" she said as she went and put the necklace in her bag. She then noticed the letter, but put it in her bag saying she'll read it later.

They ate many desserts and normally Jihyo would be overjoyed, but she kept worrying about Sunghoon. She was even more worried because she couldn't see him anywhere.

"Where's Sunghoon?" Jihyo asked Jungwon who had been avoiding her for some time.

"He's probably helping somewhere." He replied a little disappointed that right after she rejected him, all she could ask him was someone else's whereabouts. 'Am I being too sensitive?' he thought to himself as he left her side.

However, Jihyo didn't realise he was avoiding her and went to his side again to stand next to him.

"Just leave me alone." He said raising his voice a little and left to go outside.

She spent the rest of the night thinking about what she had done wrong.

Jungwon was angry at her for some reason she didn't know made her sad. The Sunghoon situation also didn't help her mood.

Yujin and Sunoo noticed Jihyo's sadness. "What's wrong?" Yujin asked Jihyo.

Jihyo thought for a second whether to tell her about what had happened but decided that Sunghoon wouldn't want others to know.

"It's nothing, I'm probably just sad my birthday is coming to an end"

"You're sad because you're becoming older. It's fine it happens to everyone." Sunoo said consoling the girl. "By the way did you enjoy my present?"

"What present?"

"I styled Jungwon's hair so nicely today. He looks good right?" Sunoo smiled.

Jihyo gave him a slap on the back.

"Don't hurt my baby" Yujin said as she hugged Sunoo.

The party as well as their retreat finally got over. Winter break came right after, so that night was the last time they saw each other before the next year.

Sunghoon's birthday was soon after the retreat. He invited all his friends over including Jihyo to his house for a birthday party.

Jihyo felt a little awkward after what had happened that day, so she gave the excuse that she was sick and sent a box of chocolates through mail.
