A/N IMPORTANT! I changed her little brother's name to Liam... I just kind of started writing that all of a sudden and now I can't stop, sorry....

Previous name: Ash

Previously in The Magi Hunter

"It was nice hunting you, Cillian Rathborn." And then the sword was swung through the air, cutting through Cillians neck, his head falling to the ground.

The ground became read with blood, the elf only gave it one last glance before turning around, walking away, as the redcaps attacked the body, screaming in joy at the sight of blood.

He was pacing back and forth as he had been doing for almost a whole hour. I honestly didn't understand how he managed to do it.

"It helps to think out loud, you know." I said, making him look up at me for once.

"So you could hear what I am thinking, you mean." He retorted back.

"That too, but it actually does help." I slumped back in his chair behind his desk, looking out over the mess around in the room.

After I had told them about the Redcaps, they had demanded to know more, but I claimed I did not know any more than I already had told them. A little white lie from my side, which wasn't a new thing. Hailen had sent the others out of the room, giving the order as "everybody leave the room", which I had realized did not mean me. He had told them to find out more about these redcaps, to know what they were really up to, claiming they were smarter than just a animal on instinct. Something which was partly right, only that he wouldn't find anything more about them, unless he had the exact same copy as me of my father's book about mythological creatures.

All of a sudden Hailen stopped in his steps, turning to look straight at me, which only caused me to raise my eyebrow at him.

"You know something." He stated, walking slowly around the desk to stand in front of me.

"What do you mean know something? I just told you guys what I know about the redcaps." I shot back, but it seemed it didn't help.

Hailen bowed down, placing his hands on the armrests on the chair I was sitting in. He looked me straight in the eye.

"I know you know something, Eve. So spit it out."

"I don't know any more than I have told you, darling." I smiled sweetly at him. He leaned more forward.

"Really now, then why did your heart jump just now when you were talking?" He asked, our faces only inches apart.

"Didn't you stand right in front of me just then?" I asked back, using that mate thingy against him.

He let out a soft chuckle, and surprisingly it had a calming effect on my body. Well, except from down there.

"We both know that's not the case, even though it is right now." His once hard eyes grew soft saying the last part.

"Do I have to repeat myself again, mate?" I said impatiently, not liking how much attention my racing heart was getting. "I do not know anything more than I have already told you."

He let out a loud sigh. "I'll get you to tell me eventually, just you wait." He said as he turned around and began pacing the room again.

The library was as good as empty of people now, only a single heartbeat was left standing in between the shelves. All the others had gone to eat dinner, and I had told Hailen I needed to let the niagara blood stream flow into a toilet for a little bit. Which he blushed furiously at might I add.

"Finding something, little pup?" I asked Liam who stood reading an old book.

He obviously hadn't heard me coming, and jumped when I spoke. So much for werewolf senses. Or maybe it was just the magic blood in my veins coming into effect again. Remind me to never go that long before taking some again.

"God, Eve. You scared me!" Liam looked irritated up at me from his book.

"Not my fault that bloody book is that amazing."

"Maybe it is." Liam smiled sly at me, one that looked a lot like dad's.

"What do you mean?"

"The book is written by Gregory Carnikel, it also said in the intro that all that is written in this book is information gathered about the missions of The Magi Hunter." Liam informed me, looking proud when he got it all right, of course after struggling with saying the author's name.

"Gregory Carnikel, huh?" I let out a very unladylike snort, remembering the nervous little dwarf with huge glasses always carrying a thick book of some sort.

"You know him?" He looked at me with wondering eyes, the ones it had been long ago since I had seen last time.

"Know him? Yeah, he's my uncle, Liam. My mom's brother."

"Your uncle?!" To say he looked shocked was an understatement. His eyes were huge, enormous actually.

"Yeah." I picked out a book from one of the shelves, looking at it uninterested.

"So that's why he talks so kindly about you." His eyebrows furrowed at once. " But why does he then never mention your name?" He asks, looking confused again.

"Really little pup, really? It's kind of a secret. The mystery behind the assassin and all you know." I simply answered.

We both grew silent after that, as Liam continued to read through book after book. It was almost sad to see how loyal he was to his alpha, not even stopping to go eat. My poor little brother, the one to always stay loyal to everyone around him. Sure it was a good trait, but that good trait is the one that's going to get him killed one day.

"Liam?"

He looked up at me, his eyes tired from all the reading.

"You won't find anything in any of these book." I stated, looking with sympathy at my little brother.

"And how do you know that?"

"Because I have read every single book in here. And the Redcaps are only mentioned 10 times." I told him, actually speaking the truth, even though Liam seemed to doubt me.

"Really?" He asked.

"Yes, really."

He put the book in his hands back in place, his shoulders slumping.

"I just wanted to do something to help the pack for once you know. I'm always in the way." I had never seen my brother sader than at this very moment. His head hung low, and you could almost see his depressed aura.

"What do you mean, Liam?" I asked, sitting down against a shelf, patting the spot next to me, so he could sit down, which he did.

He rested his head on my shoulder, leaning on me for support.

"Do you know what happened after that night?" He asked, I only shook my head. Because truth was, I didn't.

"Hailen's father came and took me back to his pack. I wasn't a part of any you know, because of dad. But dad knew him, so he took me in. When I came here I was looked upon as the rogue orphan of a hunter. Not the best title to get from a pack of werewolves you know. They tried to train me to fight, still haven't succeeded on that one. I can't really be used to anything." A tear slipped from his eye, landing on my shoulder.

"Oh, Liam..." I held him closer than I ever had before, not caring if Hailen was going to smell him on me afterwards or not.

I decided right then and there that I was going to teach him fight. He must have it hidden in there somewhere, but there was a possibility that he himself wasn't the cause of his missing ability to fight. That might come from something more powerful.

We sat there for a while, closely cuddled up, until someone came into the library. Neither of us heard it at first, because we were both in our own world. Until the person found us, stopping right in his tracks.

"Eve?!"

Hailen.
