"There is a mission that I need you to do for me, which I cannot do alone." He spoke, not turning to look at me. One mission. Just one mission. It won't hurt. It's not like I will die, and leave Liam behind without any family. I thought as I heard Liam's voice echoing in my head
'Where are you?' I just shook it off, ignoring him completely. Duty calls again, after all.

The ground was uneven under my feet, the darkness in this wet cave not doing things any better than they already were. If only we could have had some light, but years of experience told both me and Syron not to do just that. Who knows what kind of creatures could attack us if they followed a light we were carrying.
We had walked for hours, or at least it seemed like it, the darkness consumed all senses of time both of us had, the thick vegetated forest we had been traveling through before this hadn't made it any better either.
My mind was as empty as the darkness we kept walking through, since Liam's voice had disappeared from my mind, it was like my thoughts were on a pause, my mind staying blank.
"Not much longer now." I heard Syron whisper in front of me, as I felt us rounding a corner, and yes, felt. As we were feeling our way along the walls of the cave.
Far in front of us, I could see it. A fait light in the distance, an opening. The light kept getting brighter and bigger the closer we got and we could soon see contours of what was on the other side. A clearing with tall grass growing, small summer flowers blooming here and there. It was all surrounded by a thick forest, like a looming shadow around the clearing.
The closer we got the more detailed it all became, but it was first when we stepped out of the cave and into the light, finally being able to see where we were going that I saw them.
Their red caps sticking up just above the tall grass, their scythes sticking up beside them. It must have been at least a hundred of them scattered all around the clearing, a constant wheezing sound in the air around us. In the middle of it all stood a tall man, one I had seen repeatedly in my dreams after our first meeting. His face calm, with a satisfied smile upon his lips at the sight of us.
"Eve Rathborn, what a pleasure seeing you again."
Erkirhul turned his attention to Syron, the smile on his face appearing more threatening this time.
"Thank you, old friend, for bringing her here. You may leave us."
Old friend? I looked over at my mentor, who didn't even as much as give me a single glance, turning around the way we came and disappearing into the cave again. I was about to turn around myself, to try to reach him before it was too late, but as soon as I did so, they were there, the redcaps. wheezing at me, holding their scythes out towards me. There was no way out.
"Now that he's out of the way, let's talk about my dagger."
Erkirhul sounded a lot closer this time, as I turned around to face him, I was not looking forward to this at all.

Hailen's P.O.V:
She was no where to be seen. No where. Everyone was out looking for her, but so far no one had as much as found a trace from her. It was like she had vanished into thin air.
Liam refused to leave my side, following me like the lost puppy he is. I could practically smell the worry and fear off him, but then again, so could probably people do on me too. Why did she have to disappear now that I had finally found her, when I finally felt like one piece again. It was like someone had ripped me in two, not caring if I would bleed out or not.
It's been hours since anyone saw Eve last, and I can feel it in my bones that something is wrong. She didn't just go off running this time to just get some air, something is wrong.

Liam's P.O.V:
She wasn't answering. At all. The emptiness I previously had had in my mind was back again, the one I that had possessed me before Eve had come back to me.
No one knew what to do. Not even Hailen. I know he's worried, very worried and to be honest he looked like someone was about to rip his heart out. This simple look made the rest of the pack restless. No one seemed at piece, and everyone walked around ready to attack something, or someone. The last time everyone had acted like this was when the last alpha was very sick, and let's just hope we don't need to see anything like this again in some time.
Right at this moment I was sitting in Hailen's office, looking at some old book he had up on the table. There was small notes everywhere, hand written, some looking very old. I was just mindlessly reading over it, not caring what it was about, just needing something else to think about.
It told a story about a special dagger, the summer dagger to be more exact, and sounded like the kind of fairy tale you tell your kids before they go to bed. Nothing special in particular.
It happened all of a sudden, and was only there for a second, but that second was more than what I could have hoped for. A scream. I quickly turned to look at Hailen, who was looking at me with the same look in his eyes as me.
We both knew who it belonged to, the question was, where did it come from?
