He gave no signal to the rest of the pack, before he lunged at the little dwarf, who even now held onto his book for dear life, trying to shield his body with it.

But instead of the scream of an attacked little body, a whimper were heard all over the clearing. Liam, in his little brown wolf had jumped in between Hailen and the book covered dwarf, Hailen's teeth sinking into his side.

She walked the halls with confident steps, the little fearies shying away closer to the shadows. For them it was better being close to the redcaps in the shadows than the hunter in the light.

Eve had her hood up as per usual, so a shadow would fall upon her face. Outside the rain whipped on the enourmous windows, and the wind howled around every corner. No one dared to go outside in this weather, and life within the walls seemed to dim down as well, so to see someone walking so hurriedly down the halls of the castle as Eve was, made head turns and ears to listen.

Entering the warm litted room, she stopped in her track by the door. Erkirhul stood with his back turned towards her, looking thoughtfully out of the window in front of him.

"One of the redcaps found this little creature sneaking around in the garden this morning. Does he bear any resemblance to your memory?" Erkirhul pointed one long slim finger towards a shaking figure bound to one of the two great colums in the room.

Eve walked closer, crouching down to have a better look at its face where it sat on the ground. She lifted a half gloved hand, the tips of the fingers of the glove having been cut off, to tilt its face upwards.

A pair of brown eyes met hers, his jet black hair hair falling around his tired face. It wasn't hard recognising Knox, even with him looking more grown up than ever. That childish spark in his eyes were gone, replaced with a hardness Eve had grown accostumed to in her fellow hunters eyes.

Knox didn't bear any signs of being beated, he had had his luck with him it seemed.

"Eve?" His voice croaked out, darker than Eve remembered.

She didn't answer him, shocked he was able to recognize her with her face nearly visible beneath the hood.

He leaned his head backwards as she let go of his face.

A cold hand came to rest on her shoulder, as she straightened up again, Erkirhul standing beside her.

"It seems like he recognize you." Eve could almost hear the wicked grin in his voice. "Why don't you take him with you down, and chat a bit. It was after all him who trespassed into our territory." Erkirhul handed her one single key, while mentioning for some redcaps by the door to help carry Knox out of the room.

"Eve! Please talk to me. What's happening? Why are you with that guy? Where's Syron?" Knox pleaded, where he sat bound on hands and feet to a chair.

Eve had taken her cape off, but hadn't dared to turn to look at Knox just yet. He might have recognized her back in Erkirhul's office because of the gloves she was wearing had been the one Knox had given her for her birthday 2 years ago.

"What happened to you?" Knox voice had calmed down, and his question was barely above a whisper, but it was enough to get her attention.

What had happened to her? Eve didn't even know herself. Although she knew that something had happened, she just didn't know what. It was like she had lost a piece of herself somewhere, but couldn't remember where nor how.
