Chapter 5 - Dates

~ Ash's POV ~
As we went to the restaurant which was a bit too fancy for me I still ordered the dish I thought sounded delicious
"so tell me about yourself, I'd like to know more about you" Gary gave me a light smile as I smiled back
"what would you like to know? I'm not that interesting of a person" I giggled as Gary looked at me amused
"I find you very interesting" he smiled as I blushed lightly
"let's see" he sighed thinking
"what inspired you to become a teacher?" Gary smiled at me
"not sure" I giggled
"I guess it came out pretty naturally my mom has always told me I used to play 'teacher' with my stuffed animals" I let out a small giggled as Gary grinned
"I see" he nodded grinning stirring his lemonade he ordered with his straw

"so why did you become a businessman?" I smiled sipping on my lemonade
"it was a family thing so I didn't really decide, if I had the choice I would've done something in the science field" he smiled as I nodded
"oh so you like science" I giggled
"yeah, it's always fascinated me" Gary smiled once more making eye contact with me

"what about your mom, what does she do for living?" he said as he sipped on his lemonade
"she just works at the cafe, nothing major" i said as he nodded
"what about your dad?" he added
"I don't really communicate with him since my mom and him divorced when I was little" I shrugged
"oh I see . . . I'm sorry if I crossed your limits" he said in a genuine tone as I shook my head
"it's okay, it's nothing I'm sad about, in fact he's still tends to send me a gift or money at least on Christmas and my birthday" I smiled
"so are you an only child?" Gary said as I nodded
"mhm a spoiled brat" I giggled as he chuckled

"what about you? what's your family like?" I smiled
"not too interesting I just have my grandpa and sister" he shrugged as I nodded slowly
"what about your parents?" I asked hesitantly
"they passed away" he mumbled as i bit my lip
"oh . . . I'm sorry I didn't kno–" I started but Gary cut me off
"don't worry about it" he smiled as I nodded

After our lunch Gary invited me to an ice cream at the park and of course I went, I was having a great time with him
"so I'm guessing you've had a couple boyfriends by now?" he smiled at me as we ate our ice cream, the question made me freeze up, it caught me off guard
"uh no, haven't really been a relationship person, I recognized my sexuality but never tried to get to know someone" I giggled nervously as Gary nodded
"oh I see" he kept nodding and ate his ice cream

We kept talking and getting to know each other
"so did you like the rose arrangement?" Gary smiled as I nodded
"mhm, thank you" I smiled as I saw him reach over for something and I saw he had picked a rose from a bush behind us
"here" he smiled putting it in my hair where my clip was
"t-thanks" I blushed as he grinned at me

~ 3rd Person POV ~
"hi mom" Ash said as he got home
"hi sweetie how was your day?" the woman smiled as she cleaned the kitchen table
"good, yours?" Ash smiled
"good sweetie, so did you get the secretary job with that nice guy?" she smiled as Ash nodded
"yeah I did" he smiled
"that's good, but just work at your limits sweetie okay?" the woman smiled as Ash nodded
"of course mom don't worry" he hugged her as the brunette smiled

"hey, where's Ash?" Paul questioned as he looked around
"he went grocery shopping with Reggie" Delia smiled as Paul nodded
"oh okay good" he nodded and smiled lightly
"oh! And he got the job with that nice guy!" Delia said happily as Paul rolled his eyes
"cool" he muttered
"those papers on the desk are the boss's information, Ash told me to tell you to not touch them" the woman giggled as Paul nodded slowly and approached them when the brunette wasn't looking and saw the address to the auburn's house

"I'm going out real quick" Paul said after snapping a picture of the address
"oh okay, take care" the brunette smiled as Paul nodded
"I will" he said as he was on his way to the auburn's house

When Paul got there he looked at the fancy house it wasn't a mansion exactly but it was a big house almost a mansion
Paul made his way to the door and knocked and waited
"hi" a squeaky voice said as Paul looked to not see Gary but his daughter
"uh hi . . . " Paul trailed off
"you're the man who made a fool out of himself in front of Mr. Ketchum right?" the girl blinked as Paul scowled
"me? Your dad did the same!" Paul shot back as the girl sighed
"listen you seem like a nice guy . . . kinda . . . but my daddy is the best for Mr. Ketchum" the girl said bluntly as Paul felt fired up
"and who are you?!?" Paul said as the girl blinked
"Ashley Oak" she blinked as Paul scoffed
"you're just as ignorant as your 'daddy'" Paul mocked as the girl scowled
"don't mock me!" she stomped

"Ashley I've told you to not open the door by your . . . self" Gary trailed off once he saw Paul
"Ashley go with Crystal" Gary signaled
"but!" the girl said
"now" the man said sternly as the girl knew it was her cue to do as she was told and to not argue

Once the girl was out of sight Gary turned to Paul and walked out and closed the door behind him
"what do you want?" Gary sighed
"what part of stay away from Ash don't you understand??" Paul scowled as Gary chuckled
"the hell is funny?" Paul scowled more
"you try to hard" Gary chuckled
"and what is that supposed to mean?" Paul scowled
"what else? you always want to I dunno be overprotective or have Ash to yourself but it seems like I'm winning" Gary grinned
"what makes you think that?" Paul spat out

"I took him out on a lunch date today, if you ask me I am indeed winning" Gary grinned as Paul scowled
"you what?" he said as Gary chuckled
"I knew you'd be very annoyed but hey what can I say he seems to really like me" Gary shrugged
"now can you do me a favor and leave?" the auburn man grinned as Paul let out a growl
"f-fine, don't know why the hell I came in the first place" the purple haired man said and turned and was about to walk off until Gary stopped him

"oh and one more thing Paul" Gary chuckled as Paul rolled his eyes and turned to face the man
"what?" he muttered
"if you see Ash with a pink rose in his hair just know I have it to him" Gary grinned and turned to go back in his house as Paul clutched a fist
"he drives me so fucking insane" Paul said frustrated as he walked off

Once getting home Paul saw Ash eating dinner
"hey Paul" Ash smiled sweetly
"h-he–" Paul started until he saw the pink rose Gary mentioned making him stop talking
"what is it?" Ash giggled
"what's with the rose" Paul mumbled
"oh Gary gave it to me, pretty huh?" Ash giggled blushing as Paul rolled his eyes

– Time Skip To The Next Day –

Ash and bought a new outfit for the secretary job the day before as well as new hair clip which way a yellow rose with blue jewels spread on the rose

"how do I look mom?" Ash said going down the stairs twirling in the white vest with blue shirt under and white pants
"very pretty sweetie" the brunette smiled sweetly
"you look great" Reggie chuckled as he walked in the house
"thanks!" Ash giggled
"oh hey Paul what do you think of Ash's outfit?" Reggie chuckled as Paul came down the stairs and sat on the couch
"he looks good" Paul said brushing it off as Ash rolled his eyes
"I better get going Gary said he was going to pick me up!" Ash giggled as Paul snapped his head up from his phone
"right now?" he asked as Ash gave him a nod
"bye everyone!" Ash said as he hugged his mom quickly and gave her a peck in her cheek as the woman smiled

Once the door closed Paul went after him
"Paul please let him be" Delia sighed
"what? I-I'm just going to the cafe real quick chill" Paul retorted as Reggie sighed as his brother shut the door behind him

As Paul went to spy on Ash he saw how the auburn made the ravenette give him a spin and pose making Gary chuckle and obviously complimented him since Ash put some of the strands of his hair behind his ear and blushed

Paul knew he had to step up his game if he wanted to end up with Ash.
