Chapter 28 - Garter

~ 3rd Person POV ~
"uh Mallow I think you should throw it again" Ash said going over to the bride with bouquet in hand
"why?" Mallow frowned lightly
"because since I'm a gay man it's not fair to the ladies" Ash shrugged
"trust me Ash no one is against you being gay I mean it was faith for you to catch the bouquet, right?" Mallow then turned to Kawie who nodded
"right, I'm not at all upset of you catching it and I'm sure neither are our guests" Kawie said with a smile as Ash just nodded with a smile

"okay" he said then left to his table as he heard some guests congratulating him which he just replied with a simple "thank you" and sweet smile as he got to his table and just saw how awkward and tense the environment felt between Paul and Gary, Ash took a breath and sat at his seat setting the bouquet down with a sigh then saw Ashley approach him
"does that mean you'll marry daddy now?" she asked bluntly 

"w-what?" Ash blurted out blushing deeply, then noticed as Gary did the same
"that's an inappropriate question to ask Mr. Ketchum Ashley" Gary said as the girl shrugged and went back to playing with her baby doll and porcupine stuffed animal until asking her dad another question

"daddy what would've happened if I caught the bouquet?" Ashley blinked
"well you wouldn't be able to do so in the first place sweetheart you're just a child" Gary said as Ashley blinked
"but what if it happened?" Ashley blinked
"you wouldn't be getting married. Not with my approval that is" Gary said
"why are you asking?"
"because I have a boyfriend remember??" Ashley said

"sweetheart I have told you to cut ties with whoever that boy is" Gary scowled
"but!" Ashley started until Gary sighed once more
"unless you know how to pay bills and be responsible then call me to have a boyfriend" Gary retorted making Ashley stomp with a pout
"hmph!" the girl complained as Gary sighed

"uh gentlemen" Kawie then smiled at Paul and Gary who turned their attention to him
"would you like to participate in chances to get the garter?" he smiled as Gary smiled
"uh no thank you I'm fine" Gary said dismissively as Kawie turned to Paul
"sure why not" he said with a sigh as Kawie smiled and left
"you're actually going to participate?" Ash blinked

"yeah I mean, maybe if I catch it it'll probably mean we'll get married, it'll save you the trouble on choosing between Gary and i" Paul said in a provocative tone towards Gary who looked up from his drink
"on second thought I'll be back" Gary said getting up and rushing to the front causing Paul to scowl and do the same

"out of the way" Paul said nudging Gary's shoulder, Gary then nudged him back as Ash saw and sighed
"oh my goodness this is going to be a disaster" he said covering his face as Kawie positioned himself in place and Mallow noticed the two men

"oh dear" she muttered
"I'm going aim at them and see what happens" Kawie chuckled as Mallow scowled lightly

"babe don't do that! It won't be fair to the other guests!" she protested earning a sigh from her now husband
"fine fine" he said as his countdowns began and his teasing which made Paul and Gary show their supposed excitement
"good luck Gary!" Georgia and Iris cheered causing the man to smile
"thank you ladies!" he called back
"good luck to you too! . . . I-I forgot your name!" Georgia called out referring to Paul
"thanks?" Paul muttered confusingly and blinked

"three . . . two . . . and one!" Kawie called out throwing the garter as it went towards Gary's direction making him smile feeling victorious as the other guests backed out clearly this wasn't about any of them
Gary then smiled when he caught it
"I got–" he then was interrupted by a tackle since Paul was doing his best to catch it too making him fall back with garter tightly in his hand
" . . . it" he mumbled finishing his sentence with a small groan
