Chapter 23 - Christmas (Part One)

~ 3rd Person POV ~
With Daisy joining Ash and his mom in the kitchen to make gingerbread cookies that left Reggie, Paul and Gary alone in the living room watching TV
"so Gary what do you do for living?" Reggie smiled
"I'm a fashion designer" Gary smiled lightly at the other who nodded
"that's great, so that's how you have your own company and brand huh?" Reggie smiled
"yeah, not that I wanted to have my own company but it's cool" Gary smiled
"oh? So you had other career plans?" Reggie smiled Paul let out a loud groan which the two men dismissed
"yeah i wanted to be a researcher" Gary smiled lightly
"but unfortunately my parents death came across and I had to take over the business" Gary sighed as Reggie nodded with a sympathetic expression

"what about your parents? if you don't mind me asking" Gary smiled
"oh they are good, they just live out west and when I moved over here they wanted me to bring Paul with me just because Paul's always been closer to me than my parents" Reggie smiled
"I see, how old are you?" Gary smiled
"35" Reggie smiled
"ah I see" Gary nodded sipping his soda and looking at Paul who was flipping through the channels on the TV
"so you just work at Paul's cafe or what exactly do you do for living?"
"oh no, I'm an architect I only work in the cafe when I can" Reggie smiled
"that's very interesting" Gary smiled as the other nodded
"so–" Gary started until
"daddy!!!!"
"I gotta go check on her, I'll be back" Gary lightly sighed with a chuckle
"yeah of course go ahead" Reggie smiled
"and thank you for keeping a civil conversation not like others . . . " Gary lightly glared at Paul who rolled his eyes
"yeah don't worry about it" Reggie said with another smile
"daddy!!!!!"
"coming sweetheart!" Gary sighed and went to the kitchen

"and thank you for keeping a civil conversation not like others" Paul mocked
"he can get bent by all I care" Paul muttered
"Paul" Reggie lectured
"oh sorry I didn't mean to insult your best friend" Paul grinned sarcastically as Reggie sighed

"look daddy!" Ashley giggled pointing at her gingerbread cookies she made of different kinds of things
"they look beautiful sweetie" Gary smiled giving her a kiss on her cheek as the girl hugged him
"wanna lick the spoon?" Ash giggled sneaking up in Gary making the man lightly jump
"oh s-sure" he smiled
"it's very good, what did you use for flavoring?" Gary smiled
"vanilla" Ash smiled
"all natural" he added with a whisper and a giggle making Gary chuckle as the two just looked into each other's eyes until Ash smiled looking to see if his mom and the others weren't looking before getting his tippy toes and kissed Gary then retrieved with a smile and blush as Gary just grinned with a light pink decorating his cheeks as he watched Ash join his mom and the others 

– Time Skip A Couple Days –

"hello?" Gary said on the phone as he was pushing a cart at the store doing Christmas shopping
"oh hey Sawyer I'm almost done don't worry" the man chuckled
"no no, you can't come I have something for you" Gary said as the man on the other end was complaint of his boredom
"just give me a second Sawyer just one more present and I'm done" Gary said with a sigh as he hung up the phone and went to the cologne section and sighed
"okay now to pick a scent" he mumbled and started sniffing each of the cologne scents that interested him

"this smells good" Gary smiled
"the question is does Paul like cologne?" Gary mumbled to himself before shrugging and putting the cologne in his cart and walking off to the register

"may i help you unload the stuff Sir?" Sawyer smiled at Gary who shook his head
"no no no, Sawyer I told you I have something for you" Gary sighed as the man sighed as well
"I told you to not get me anything" the man cooed as he went back in the car as Gary shook his head and started loading the stuff into his truck
