Chapter 18

Zero's POV

Lauren and Heaven ran through the door of the small 2 story house panting with exhaustion as if they were running. I ran over to Lauren and smoothed down her hair examining her to make sure she was ok.

"What's wrong"

"W w we heard a man yelling your name, he sounded really hurt"

I raised both my eye brows and glanced over at Lucifer and the rest of the men with concern than back at the 2 small girls in front of me.

"Are you absolutely sure of what you heard"

They both nodded their heads and grabbed my hands eagerly pulling me outside where all the men and women we had in our group followed.

I than heard the cry's for help they were speaking of. It sounded like Cain but I couldn't be sure and I definitely didn't want to ignore it just because it sounded like him.

"HELP ME, ZERO, PLEASE"

Pleaded the voice from far away into the forest.

With that we all ran as fast as we could into the forest.

We stopped upon a giant fire that was lit and 4 men who seemed to be standing over somebody.

The 4 men turned around and stared directly at us, revealing the helpless man who was indeed Cain.

Fear ripped through my entire body as I realized who these men were that towered over him.

I quickly pushed Lauren, Heaven, and Mara behind me where Lucifer swiftly grabbed them and disappeared out of sight before the cult members could see them.

I stepped forward and lifted my head to show dominance.

"He is with us, let him go now" I said loud and clear as the black haired man with dark brown eyes walked towards me slowly.

"And who are you" he said with an evil grin as he twirled the knife upon his finger.

"It doesn't matter who I am, I said let him go....NOW" I growled as Cain stared at me with total fear.

At this point I wasn't angry at him and totally believed that he wasn't on the side of the cults.

"Please, Zero, help me" he said in fast sputters.

I glanced at him and pointed.

"Shut the fuck up!" I yelled, just trying to get him to keep his mouth shut while I pondered what to do.

"Do you want to be next on our sacrifice list my guy?" Said the black haired man as he pointed the blade at me.

Just than Athan emerged from behind the trees and stood 10 times taller than every man in the cult.

They looked up at him with wide eyes and fear emitted their faces instantly.

"What if I told you to let him go" said Athan in a deep but calm voice.

"He's our sacrifice, we are not letting him go" they said still not wanting to back down.

Athan walked closer and the men backed up as he did.

"Do you want to rethink that phrase?" He said in still the most calm voice.

It wasn't Athan's threats that scared the men. It was his sheer calmness and over all size that sent chills down their spines.

The blonde haired man didn't fear him tho and came after him with a knife at full speed in which Athan simply knocked it out of his hand and onto the ground before fully exposing his fangs for all of them to see.

"Mortal, why do you choose violence?" He said as he tilted his head and furrowed his brows.

His eyes turned a deep glowing yellow and green as he stared at them through his eyebrows. A low growl emitted from his throat that turned into a terrifying snarl.

He spoke low and slow as he walked towards them barring his fangs that hung from his gums and over his bottom lip.

"Let, him, go. Or I shall be feasting quite well"

He growled as he glared at every man in the cult.

One of the men decided to foolishly charge at him in which resulted in immediate death.

Athan grabbed the man in mid air, slammed him against a tree breaking every bone in his neck and back. The man went limp in his grasp as Athan stared down at him with no emotion before ripping his throat out.

He let the man fall to the ground and turned around, licking the blood that soaked his hands.

"Now, which one is going to free the captive?" He asked as the last 3 men ran to free Cain.

They lifted Cain to his feet and pushed him over to Athan. Cain landed at Athan's feet where he stared down at him. He picked Cain up by the hair and tossed him over into a bush where we could further help him.

"Let me see you bastards again and I will make sure this entire forest is lined with the bodies of your men, do I make myself clear" he said as he walked in circles around their camp calmly.

"Perfectly clear" said all 3 of the men in total fear as they cowered.

"That's what I thought" he said as he turned around and walked back into the forest where we were already carrying Cain back to the small house we were at before.
